Unsent messages in outbox

It looks like you read a rather old message and then used a rather old
fix for the problem. If the problem comes back, you may want the newer
fix we now recommend:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. The Vista SP1 update also works for this problem,
but takes longer to install.

You're welcome, but as Robert already told you, that fix you used
is very old, and has been superseded. It is always best to read the
newer responses first. That way you get the latest advice.

In Windows Mail, unknown errors and undeletable messages are often due to
interference from an antivirus program. What if any antivirus programs do
you have and have you ever has a Norton or McAfee antivirus program
installed on that computer?

For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not
running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. The Vista SP1 update contains this hotfix and more, but
takes longer to install.

In cases like that, we often need the full error messages, not just a
summary
of them, to offer much help. Right click on them and copy them to your next
message.

have the same problem I don't think I'm opening my account properly do I
sign in with my msn account e-mail address. and follow throught as if I were
getting mail in and out through msn?

As far as I know, Windows Mail won't handle connections to MSN. You
might try Windows Live Mail, which is more likely to be able to do it:

For more help, we'll probably need complete error messages if it produces
any errors. Right click on them and copy them to your next message.

Looks like you're replying to a rather old message.

For a more recent fix for the undeletable messages problem, download
and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more, but
takes longer to install.

This problem is often caused by an antivirus program, so what if any
antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever had a Norton or
McAfee antivirus program installed on that computer?

The newer email program has been available for months:

When I try to delete the 1st message in the OUTBOX that seems to be holding
up the sending of subsequent messages, I get a message "Unknown error has
occurred". Then another box drops down with the message "Deleting messages"
but none get deleted.

of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first.

POP3 is not a valid server name, although it is a valid protocol. Which
email provider are you trying to use? Many people choose their internet
providers as their email providers also, since most internet accounts
include
one or more email accounts.

Also, a vague summary of an error message isn't likely to help you get
much help. Right click on the error message, and copy all of it to your
next message.
