Unsent messages in outbox

Sending the same message to this newsgroup several times within an
hour seldom gets you help any faster.

We often need to see the whole error message, not just a summary
of it, to offer much help.

If you've used POP3 as a server name, it's invalid as a server name,
even though it's valid as a protocol. The correct server names
depend on what email provider you're using. Many people choose
their internet providers as their email provider also, since most
internet accounts include at least one email account.

Sending the same message more than once in a few minutes seldom gets
you help any faster.

We often need to see the entire error message to offer much help, so if
you need to ask again, click on the error message and try to copy it to
your next message.

POP3 is invalid as a server name, although valid as a protocol. If you
used it as a server name, ask your email provider for their instructions
for setting up to use their email servers, which should include the correct
server names. Many people choose their internet providers as their
email providers also, since most internet accounts include one or more
email accounts. If they haven't written instructions for Windows Mail
yet, their instructions for Outlook Express should also work under
Windows Mail if they don't call for the HTTP protocol. The instructions
are probably somewhere on their web site. Or, you could tell us who
your email provider is and see if anyone here already knows where to
find their instructions.

I do not know what the problem is. I was registering for the group

Hi Michelle,

When you get the error message (send an e-mail to yourself) please cut and
paste it to the group.

When I try to delete the 1st message in the OUTBOX that seems to be holding
up the sending of subsequent messages, I get a message "Unknown error has
occurred". Then another box drops down with the message "Deleting messages"
but none get deleted.

Download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first.
Certain common antivirus programs, such as most of those from
Norton or McAfee, tend to cause stuck messages and assorted
other problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately,
so if you have such a program, remember where to find the hotfix
and hope it will install again if you need it again. A recent version
of the Trend antivirus program also causes assorted problems in
Windows Mail.

If the hotfix doesn't delete the oldest message in your Outbox,
it should at least make it possible for you to delete it.
