Just got The Strawbs - The Collection so listening to that.:thumb:
The 2 songs i have heard before buying it were Lay Down & Part of the Union.

Managed to find double vinyl Small Faces album 'The Autumn Stone' down the market yesterday, had that one when I was 18, good to have it again

From the album, a little known instrumental 'Wide Eyed Girl On The Wall' which I've always liked a lot, won't appeal to everybody though...

:cry:That was in the day when we were young and gay (old connotation) i expect they are old and grey and bald like me now, but in those days they how to look cool and they could play (in all meeanings of the word)

Hello everybody. It's been a while since I have posted anything here. It is like I said in my introduction that I thought I was getting in over my head here and everyone has proven that to be a fact. I try to come here at least once a week and I always pick up a bit of knowledge so maybe there is hope for me after all. Here's the sort of music I have been listening to and I hope som
e of you enjoy it as much as I do.

Aye, I suppose so, they were certainly of my time, I'm just thankful I still get excited over new music although I must confess that's getting less frequent lately, I'm definitely going a bit retro, perhaps old fartiness is finally kicking in at last :(

Newer acts I have enthused over are The Killers, Bloc Party, Vampire Weekend and Snow Patrol but none of those are particularly new. Quite like Skrillex but that's more of an experience than musical apreciation, sheer noize, lol

Of the Small Faces, Steve Marriott died in a house fire about 20 years ago (such a waste), Keyboardist Ian McLagan is still alive and well and gigging with his Bump Band, bassist Ronnie Lane died from Multiple Schlerosis in 1997 and Kenny Jones is still alive, drummed with the Who for a while, still gigs and owns a polo club in Surrey.

It wasn't such an innocent time though, here's a reminder of how brutal things could be, have always been, and probably always will be. Another fave Small Faces song of mine, The Autumn Stone, which somebody has set to footage of Sharon Tate, the actress murdered by Charles Manson and his gang.

Nostalgia hitting hard while I nurse an upset stomach......

Oh God! At 60 she still rocks!

This.........

I'm sure you will all love it. :D

Also, if there's any Mortal Kombat fans in here...

My friends and I are disagreed over Skrillex, I think he's great. Some peers of mine say 'he just makes a noise' I reply, well, yeah, duh, um, what the hell did Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Neu and a thousand others do then?

Must confess to being rather fond of anything that's in your face.

And by way of contrast right now I'm listening to Francois Hardy, from a vinyl album I picked up in the market today.

I think he's good, some of its a bit much but a lot if it is very good!

This is not 'noise' tell them! :)

The thing with this kind of music though, is you NEED to be able to hear the low bass tones. Without them its just not the same.

I have no clue what he's singing about and despite the fact that I play drums in punk rock band, I was stunned by this. Cheers.

I'm currently listening to Dexys' new album for the first time, quite like it so far. I always loved 'Too Rye Aye' thought it was very underrated, this new one seems to be possibly a return to form.
