Music. What are you listening to right now?

A few of my Kinks faves, not all obvious choices but by turns optimistic, poignant and rebellious:

My fave Kinks song ever though is Waterloo Sunset, that song means a lot to me.

Here's the lyrics to my first choice ;Better Things'.

Heres wishing you the bluest sky,
And hoping something better comes tomorrow.
Hoping all the verses rhyme,
And the very best of choruses to
Follow all the doubt and sadness.
I know that better things are on the way.

Heres hoping all the days ahead
Wont be as bitter as the ones behind you.
Be an optimist instead,
And somehow happiness will find you.
Forget what happened yesterday,
I know that better things are on the way.

Its really good to see you rocking out
And having fun,
Living like you just begun.
Accept your life and what it brings.
I hope tomorrow you'll find better things.
I know tomorrow you'll find better things.

Heres wishing you the bluest sky,
And hoping something better comes tomorrow.
Hoping all the verses rhyme,
And the very best of choruses to
Follow all the drudge and sadness.
I know that better things are on the way.

I know youve got a lot of good things happening up ahead.
The past is gone it's all been said.
So heres to what the future brings,
I know tomorrow you'll find better things.
I know tomorrow you'll find better things.

Aye, true dat, but Ray Davies has weathered remarkably well, looking at that Glastonbury vid.

They're also dropping like flies, there have been a lot lately gone to meet their maker, last known was Jon Lord, keyboard player with Deep Purple :(

Currently listening to BBC Radio 6 where there's a program about Jamaican music playing, lottsa root Ska and Bluebeat, most excellent :)

Ahh.... Francoise Hardy, gave me palpitations as a young lad. She probably still would ;)

What with her and Marianne Faithful appearing regularly on me B & W TV, I was a lovelorn juvenile hopeless case, heartbroken at puberty :(

I'm a huge Van Morrison fan but deffo prefer his earlier stuff.

I've seen this band twice, once at The Astoria up the Charing Cross Road in '94 and at Glastonbury '98. Have their one and only album on dble vinyl and was pleased to see they'd reformed a few years ago.

Senser:

Strangely enough I knew Marianne Faithful when she was a about 10or 11, my Mum was a piano teacher and taught one our our local doctors little girls and Marianne was her cousin and she used to come on holiday to them and I used to play with them. Oh happy days:)I wish I knew then what I know now.;)

Sure is a small world eh? Playing with Marianne Faithful.

Mr Flops is toddling off to bed definitely disturbed by this knowledge... My goodness

Urmas: I was a late starter for Astral Weeks, didn't hear it until 1972, but it's in the top 10 of my all time favourite 100 albums. At least.

Collecting bottle tops....

And before I go to bed after playing Darksiders 1 and CoD4 online on this really rather warm evening after browsing Utoob I'll post this, I'd forgotten how good this was... The Public Image.

Johnny Lydon, son of Irish immigrants, raised in Finsbury park North London and a childhood bout of meningitis which knocked him for six for 2 years gave him that trademark manic glare which arguably was a big helping hand in the success of the Sex Pistols.

And now he lives in the USA and is rich from trading in Real Estate. Funny old world.

Whatever, let's time warp back to '79
