Music. What are you listening to right now?

Simply beautiful! I finally am able to appreciate her style and her voice, been listening to her since few days.

Flops:

I know, I know you must be wondering what happened to my earlier remark saying I could not appreciate Adele. It has to be the right time and right mood, and I guess I let that happen while listening to her, finally she got through to me. I am glad I did not give up on her completely. Now, I am not going to disregard her new releases. :)

I bought the DVD of the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert the other day, so I've had all the songs buzzing around my head ever since watching it. I'm a big fan of the original Jean Valjean - Colm Wilkinson - but Alfie Boe certainly gives him a run for his money:

I own the DVD too, great music indeed! It's considered a masterpiece by many.

Quad: Adele's the best female singer to emerge in quite some time imo, glad you're into her, so to speak.

She's young, she's a little overweight and SHE SMOKES  The smoking has played a part in her voice being temporarily unavailable, hope she sorts herself out.

I've never heard Les Miserables, that, to me, is a West End Musical that was at the top of Charing Cross Road for forever, it may still be there, not sure. I don't really think that would be my cup of meat but you never know, me have an open mind.

Leonard Cohen - I have the double CD from whence that came, or one similar, recorded at the 02 in Greenwich 2 or 3 years ago, love it. The man's a trooper and a survivor and has known more than his fair share of ladies in his time.

Right now I'm listening to Osibisa's first album on vinyl. Saw them at the Lyceum too many years ago playing this. Groovy, our kid.

PS: I bought a vinyl Sibelius LP a little while ago, Karelia is the biz. Reading the sleeve notes, seems his music was very sympathetic to Finns wanting to overthrow their invading rulers. Interesting.

Nah, it's moved to the Queen's in Shaftesbury Avenue.

I was dragged along by my missus a few years back thinking that I wouldn't enjoy it but I was very surprised to find that I did. :)

My wife has seen it twice and would be happy to go again. We know someone who has been 12 times.

Currently listening to Sam Cooke. Anyone remember him?

I dragged Ian along when it came to Manchester recently and he was surprised by how much he liked it! As you would expect from the title, it's no barrel of laughs, but the music is so moving. I've listened to it so much that I practically know every word, but some of the songs still bring a lump to my throat despite that :)

Ok Becks, will have to check out 'Les Miserables' sometime, thanks.

Have just listened to this, bought a tear to this poor boy's eye, both dead now. And now the sun's out so going for a stroll round the market.

Not quite sure how to post videos like you guys... but.

Ive been listening to quite a bit of Gotye recently. I just found out about him and have been enjoying his music. :D

:D I have been going quite retro just reciently and have been listening to The Manhattan Transfer as I like big band and swing and quite into the 30's/40's&50's Big Bands. I know Sir Flops wont be impressed as he seems to go more modern but I must admit I like melody.

I am afraid you is mistaken good sir, I am a big fan of Manhattan Transfer, they simply ooze class with vocals like liquid honey. The Pastiche album is me fave and their Xmas album is good too at that time of year.

I don't pigeon-hole music, if I like it I like it, regardless of genre.

I suppose I do lean to rock, reggae and folk but I never know what will take my fancy at any given time. Last album I played today was Animals by Pink Floyd, on vinyl, natch ;)

Now thinking about playing some John Hiatt or maybe The Louvin Brothers...
