Music. What are you listening to right now?

I'd never heard of Judy Henske, interesting, I vill investigate.

Who's up for an Italian Sea Cruise then? :)

That is the original with some footage of a young lady who's a tad warm from long ago. The versions by John Fogerty and Robert Gordon are also good :thumb:

Managed to get hold of the Judy Henske album Farewell Aldebaran in mp3 from 1969. Recorded with a fella named Jerry Yester this is a nice little slice of sixties whimsy. Very different from previous posts here, I'd assume this is an offering from the later part of her career, will have to do a little Wiki homework methinks.

I do like discovering artists new to me :)

Edit: Here we go: Link A somewhat chequered career. And that Aldebaran album was released on Frank Zappa's Straight label and released in the same year that Captain Beefheart's 'Trout Mask Replica' was also released on the Straight label.

Well I never, small world eh?

:thumb:Thanks for the heads up floppy the Wiki entry was very interesting, she certainly got about dident she. I dident realise she was part of the Kingston Trio at one time.

You are right. Different but good. What next? Maybe... from Henske/Yester (1969) to Driscoll/Auger (1968):

Plus: today's sermon

Bought Mike Oldfield - The Collection at Christmas and just got round to listening to it.
Just listening now to Tubular Bells part 1 & 2.

Good stuff with Driscoll/Auger. Julie Driscoll was one good looking lady, saw her perform at the Lyceum in The Strand around '70. Always remembered her as being skinny but careful study of the vid posted above reveals that she was in fact amply proportioned in all the right places. Ahem, 'scuse me, cold shower time. Lemme see, she'd be older than me now....

Whatever happened to the Crash Test Dummies? Bit of a flash in the pan eh?

I like Tubular Bells a lot, have it on vinyl and FLAC. Always reminds me of the year I spent in Cornwall. Oldfield has had bursts and flashes since but I don't think he's ever bettered his first outing. And of course it will always remind some folk of The Exorcist.

Right now I'm listening to the Incredible String Band album 'I Looked Up'.

Here's an incomplete track from the album, quite rare footage:

Since the 1970s Driscoll has concentrated on experimental vocal music, married jazz musician Keith Tippett and collaborated with him. Her name is now 'Julie Tippetts', thus using the original spelling of her husband's surname.

So there.

Ah yes, it was Keith Tippet I saw her perform with way back when. It may have been something called 'Escalator Over The Hill' featuring one Carla Bley, can't rightly remember. I do remember it was a bit rubbish though, much like that clip above ;)

I note and concede that Mzzzzz Driscoll/Tippets has weathered the storm much better than myself :D

I am listening to Carl "safe sax" Ferris, He is a Jazz musician who plays a sax on Freemont Street Experience, Las Vegas. So if any of you are jazz fans have a look on his site http://www.safe-sax.com/. I have most of his CD's except the last two.

Awww... what a cute little soprano [or is it sopranino?... doubt it] saxophone!

Not sure but he plays all sorts of sizes of sax and I just like his music. He writes them all, when we first heard im in 2001 he was playing guitar and singing down on Freemont St since then he now plays the sax on all our visits.
