Music. What are you listening to right now?

Been listening to Ray Lamontagne

Seriously brings a lump to my throat listening to this haunting song and brings back all sorts of memories!

When we first met we were kids, we were wild, we were restless
And after a while, I grew coarse, I grew cold, I grew reckless
I hold this memory, hold you so close to me,
whispered were we always happy
Lately it feels like I'm asleep and I just can't wake up
Pacing the floor, want to call, but I can't so I hang up
Sharing a secret on the train with a lady
who's crying has ruined her make up

Now I see just how young, how scared I was
Eyes closed tight, throwing punch after punch at the world
Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same
Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same

Said goodbye to all the places I used to go
Said goodbye to all the faces I used to know
Nothing lasts forever
I guess by now, I should know I should know

There ain't a thing I can say that will ever repair
And you, who had so much advice, and yet couldn't share
Maybe someday, we will look back at this and we'll
smile, but right now I can't bear

Now I see just how young, how scared I was
Eyes closed tight, throwing punch after punch at the world
Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same
Sarah, is it ever gonna be the same

Adele

Will ya look at Adele's eyelashes, if she batted them fast enough she could knock you over onto your back with a force nine gale :D Class song.

I never listened to Terry Reid when he first started making music in the late sixties, not sure why really, I was aware he was around and also turned down the vocalist's slot with Led Zeppelin and recommended an unknown fella named Robert Plant.

So, only discovered him recently and I suppose you could now call me a fan. He's stil going strong, making music and touring. Here's a fave of mine:

Everybody wants you,
Everybody wants your love.
I'd just like to make you mine all mine.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
Baby give it up.
Give it up, Baby give it up.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
Baby give it up.
Give it up, Baby give it up.

Everybody sees you,
Everybody looks and stares.
I'd just like to make you mine all mine.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
Baby give it up.
Give it up, Baby give it up.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
Baby give it up.
Give it up, Baby give it up.

Give it up, Baby give it up

Can you give it, can you give it Give it up
Come on baby I need your love.
Do you know I want it baby.
Come on baby I want your love.
Give it up, some of your love.
Come on and play the game of love..(fade away)
Give it up, some of your love.

I was in tiger tiger last month dancing with a woman I am currently dating (slightly younger than me) and this song comes on - to my surprise she knew the song and lyrics

I'd heard of the song before but since that night been playing it again and remembering the amazing smile on her face that night.
:)

Here's the original album track from 1971, this has been a staple for me all of my adult life, definitely in Flops' top 50 choons and RIP Eddie Hazel who composed this at age 19. There are better live versions on Youtube but this is more accessible perhaps:
