Muckshifter,

Thanks for the info on refurbished components.... I must say that I have never experenced that myself both in buying personally or in any of the bulk corporate PC orders that I have been involved with over the years - but, yes, I guess that just because I haven't come across it, doesn't mean it doesnt happen... It just came as a surprise.

It probably wouldn't have been an issue if the drive had continued working for a few years, rather than a few months.

I just look forward to their response (if I get one...)

Sorry to hear that you are also having trouble with Mesh :(

Regarding .....

"if it isn't already in this epic of a thread".

Actually, we are only just beginning to get started on this thread in highlighting the failings of Mesh

You should have a look at the "scappy thread", entitled "A Problem with Mesh" to see what i mean .....

I agree with feckit

7 to 10 years ago mesh customer support line was a free national call.
7 to 10 years ago mesh would do anything to help a customer out.
7 to 10 years ago mesh would supply all drivers on a cd-rom disc.
7 to 10 years ago mesh were the best company to buy a new pc from.

7 to 10 years on mesh customer support line costs 60p a minute and it takes on average 15 minutes to get through
7 to 10 years on seem not to do anything for the customer.
7 to 10 years on mesh tell the customer to make a back up of all their drivers themselves.
7 to 10 years on mesh are the number 1 pc maker people complain about.

A lot has happened in 10 years!
Regular readers of this thread will know that I have crossed swords with feckit in the past and indeed earlier on this thread I had to remind the Young Cruncher of The Forum Guidelines on "Flaming and Derogatory Remarks"

However, I think he is spot on with his opinion of Mesh :thumb:

Mesh could claim to have been .......

"The Most Excellent UK Computer Retailer of The Second Millennium."

But now I suspect thousands of Mesh Victims regard them as .......

"The Most Disreputable UK Computer Retailer of The Third Millennium."

Ah i see.
I havent ever needed to use the customer service, or the engineers, and my pc has never broke or anything. Guess im a 'lottery winner' :D
Yes, if you have bought a Mesh system and have not had to ring Customer Service, you are certainly a winner. Mesh usually still beat the competition on the price of your dream system, but I think this is because there is little in the price of a Mesh system to cover Customer Service, because there is little in the way of Customer Service if you need it

Sadly, it seems that it just takes something to go wrong, and a happy Mesh owner to have to ring Customer Service, for yet another Mesh Victim to be created :(

Let's hope that doesn't happen to you :)

Too late!

Unfortunetly, I'm too late. Didn't read any of the complaints, and so purchased from MESH with a happy outlook. Only had the PC a week now, and already its screwed up beyond belief. Customer services and technical support was about as helpful as a brick to the face. Just trying to get a refund now; so hopefully that gets somewhere. Have alot of the same problems as the other guys in this epic threat - which, to my disgust, took me several hours to read thru. Only went for them cos they were cheap! So as the saying goes: you pay for what you get!

I am sorry to hear that you have joined the army of Mesh Victims :(

It is a great pity that so many people buy from Mesh without knowing the truth about the company, however, it is sometimes difficult for Mesh Victims to tell of their nightmares. There is "another forum" which is rather popular, but unfortunately many of the Mesh Victims who post on this forum cannot post there to warn people about the incompetence and disrepute of Mesh Customer Service because they have been threatened or banned by "Another Forum Editor" :(

Here he is in action .......
"It's rare for me to do this,
but I'm going to issue a public warning - a final one - to you, dontmeshwithme. I'm doing it this way because previous experience with people like you has taught me that a private warning (which is how it would usually be done) would almost certainly be followed by a forum thread containing yet another outpouring - no doubt accusing me of bias in favour of a magazine advertiser, etc."

I only saw the Mesh Adverts on Tuesday ....... it seems a case of there one day and gone the next. If any of you are feeling disconsolate at missing them, if I recall correctly, they said .......

"No hype ....... Just buzz

Mesh Systems from £499."

However, they did not mention whether the price now includes adequate Customer Service and Technical Support

Sorry but the words adequate, customer, service, technical & support made me laugh.
Mesh have NO ideas what these words mean, if they did they could then provide a service!!

Hi,

I have read so many bad reviews on PC retails now. Is there anyone that you experienced people can recommend?

I am looking to by a desktop system for around £600-£700.

Well, there is most certainly one UK computer retailer I would definitely not recommend ;)

I think Dell and Evesham have an all round "quite good" reputation :thumb:

Some knowledgeable people recommend Novatech and PC Specialist :thumb: :thumb:

After my absolute nightmare experience of Mesh, I bought from the "local shop" with a very good reputation and was happy to pay the extra 5%-10% :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

There are some very experienced people on this forum, who I am sure will make further suggestions

Hi and welcome to PC Review :)

If you want advice regarding a new system it would be better if you posted it in the Hardware/General section where it is likely to get a better response :thumb:

I must admit having read the whole thread, the reaction by the FE to you and others seems way OTT - he doesn't seem to want to tolerate any criticism at all about Mesh, makes me wonder why....

Advertising Revenue!
The account for Mesh is big, very big and they don't want to upset a major account customer.

Please Note: This is just my view and is of course allegedly

Thanks Meshvictim

After my experience with MESH I typed in 'MESH complaints' into google and found this forum.

Here's my nightmare.

My MESH system blew its PSU - I have a 3 year on-site warranty so I called them and they sent a tech.
He replaced the PSU but the system wouldn't start - nothing.
I sent it back and after chasing them up (I didn't receive confirmation they'd received it) after a couple of weeks I was told the machine would be 'flagged' for repair and I should hear from them in a couple of days.
I called a week later to see what was going on and was told:
'AMTRAK tried to deliver your PC yesterday but couldn't find your address. I'll give you their number so you can contact them.'
'Me? Shouldn't you be doing that on my behalf?'
'No.'
I contacted AMTRAK and they told me the PC was out for deliver that day - and had NOT been out before.
When it arrived I started it up to find the MESH technician had re-installed XP, overwriting ALL my hard drive data!
The Service report stated O/S corrupt - which is strange since that machine had never been connected to the net.
I telephoned, absolutely livid.
I was told:
'You should have backed up your files.'
'Why didn't you give me the option - why didn't you contact me before you went ahead and re-formatted my hard drive? It's MY property!'
'We don't do that. You could have removed your hard drive.'
'I was never told that - and I not had any form of communication from you! If I remove my hard drive I void my warranty.'

Needless to say myself and my family are very annoyed at MESH, distraught over a year's worth of writing, composing (I've written music for the Brighton Festival, and had twenty or so completed pieces and several works in progress on the drive) artwork and pictures are lost.

MESH are a mess. I've spent hours on the phone in the 'queue' there's never an option to reach anyone directly as you're always put on hold for another 15 minutes.

Thanks for reading.

Right! Thanks for all the warnings here. Despite the temptations I am now going to order from an other supplier. Most probably Dell.
