Hi historian and welcome to the forum

Thats the thing - you never really know how good a company is until something goes wrong :thumb:

Hello.

I`m a very new member to this site and I would like to add my comments to this thread.
I am an owner of a MESH computer,It`s now almost 3 years old,and so far (stretching out to touch wood) it`s been great. It arrived in tip top condition and it worked first time out of the box.So I am most shocked to read all these adverse comments about the company.I thought they were a good company. By reading these posts I most certainly would not buy another MESH computer, even though my one has never given me any trouble.I would have to ask my self "do I trust them"? The answer would be no!
All the best
historian
Well it just goes to show, not everyone has a problem with them..... Sadly your hear far more bad reports than good about something/someone as opposed to good reviews.

But as a 'build your own' kinda guy i would not buy a pre built system from any company. :)

Well ……. If you are expecting to read yet another long critical post from a sad old git about a certain computer retailer who gives its customers a unique experience, then …… you will be disappointed

Ok I know I know ……. Wrong word, “disappointed” should be “relieved”

It is just a flying visit, to do a quick bit of research. My last post before my vacation from this forum was No. 224, when for once I agreed with that Young Cruncher feckit, and this post is No. 243. So I will just scan the intervening 18 posts and split them into those which suggest it is a good idea to buy from Mesh and those which do not.
…….
…….
…….

Right done it …….

Those which suggest it is a good idea to buy from Mesh >>>>>>>>>>>>> 0

Those which suggest it is a bad idea to buy from Mesh >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 17

There was one post by that Young Cruncher feckit in which he did not explicitly suggest it was a bad idea to buy from Mesh, but I am sure murdoch will already have had a word with him about that aberration
nod.gif

Well, I dare say I could easily write a few thousand words about what I have just read

But I will spare you all and just go back on vacation from this forum until later this year having concluded that hitherto the leopard, as expected, has not changed its spots :(

Together we can make a difference !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

P.S. An updated “Useful Contact Information for Mesh Customers” follows on the next post for those new Mesh Victims requesting advice and assistance.

Useful Contact Information for Mesh Customers

The “Useful Contact Information for Mesh Customers” has recently been updated to reflect the change in England whereby the “first point of contact” is usually no longer your local council Trading Standards Department, but the centralised Consumer Direct. Here it is :-

Useful Contact Information for Mesh Customers

The latest advice and contact information for Brent Trading Standards is :-

You should report Mesh to your local Trading Standards Service first and do it as soon as you have trouble with Mesh. There has been a recent change to how you do this, from “ringing your local council” to “ringing a centralised call centre” namely Consumer Direct, who now take details of your complaint on behalf of most Council Trading Standards Departments in England. So, if you live almost anywhere in
England, then simply ring Consumer Direct on :-

Consumer Direct >>>>>>> O8454 04 05 06

If you are one of the small minority in England who live in an area where you need to ring a different number, then Consumer Direct will advise you of that number. If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland there may also be a different number to ring, but again Consumer Direct will advise you of that number.

You should be advised about how to resolve the problem and, if that does not work, your case should be referred to Ms. Paula Anderson, The Brent Trading Standards Officer responsible for trying to keep Mesh in line. Once your case is referred, you can contact Ms. Anderson direct :-

Phone: Ring 020 8937 5555, then option 2 when asked, you will get Brent Trading Standards Reception and can ask to speak to Ms. Anderson.

Email: (e-mail address removed) with “F.A.O. Ms. Paula Anderson Re: Mesh Computers” as the title of your message.

Letter: F.A.O. Ms. Paula Anderson Re: Mesh Computers, Brent Trading Standards, Quality House,
249 Willesden Lane, Willesden, London, NW2 5JH.

If you wish to contact someone more senior, the family tree is :-

Phone: 020 8937 5555 then Option 2 for Brent Trading Standards Reception and ask for ...

John Taylor - Director of Trading Standards

Martin Grout - Deputy Director (Manager Legal Process)

Bill Bilon - Deputy Director (Manager Development & Support Team)

Charles Speed (Manager Overall Responsibility for Mesh)

Paula Anderson who drew the short straw (Mesh Home Authority Officer)

Email: (e-mail address removed) entitled Re: Mesh Computers

Letter: Re: Mesh Computers, Brent Trading Standards, Quality House, 249 Willesden Lane, Willesden, London, NW2 5JH.

Dare I cancel a Mesh PC order?

A couple of weeks ago I placed an order from Mesh for a custom PC base unit. I have an estimated delivery date of 18th April and my account was debited on 10th April (debit card not credit card). I placed my order because I bought from Mesh 5 years ago and was happy with both PC and service. But after reading posts on this and other forums I've got cold feet and want to cancel the order and build my own from parts (I did this last time around with no probs). But now I'm scared that I'll get embroiled in some battle which will tie up my £1000 so I won't be able to buy parts, or that I'll be forced to accept the goods despite Distance Selling law. I don't have the heart or time for a long fight so I may have to cross fingers and hope for the best. Anyone got any experience of cancelling an order with Mesh before delivery?

Health Warning: Using Mesh can damage your health!

Mesh are very helpfull up to the point of you paying after that service seems to go down hill!
Good luck if you try to get your money back, but don't hold out much hope!!

Hmm, small print

Saw this in the small print:

"The Regulations do not apply to goods, which are built to the Buyers Specification where the finished product is a non standard item."

In other words, I guess as soon as you click 'customise' (as pretty well everyone would - including me) then you are not covered by the Cancellations & Distance Selling Regulations 2000.

Well good luck with your mesh ownership then!
Hope you get one that is built OK & that works!!

Well an update on Brent Trading Standards, I received this reply from the lady listed in these forums to write to.

Thank you for contacting Brent and Harrow Trading Standards. We no longer provide consumer advice so you will need to contact Consumer Direct, which is the DTI's national consumer helpline. Their telephone number is 08454 040 506 or you can visit their website: www.consumerdirect.gov.uk.

So another avenue of help closed best of luck my PC has not worked for100 days today and it is only 6 months old.

my computer

My own experience of Mesh was that i paid £1700 for a pc that did not work properly & took months to sought out. Since then the pc has worked fine apart from a few minor problems.

I do however think it's wrong to charge 60p for the help line to which most people spend at least 20 minutes on before getting an answer, this will up to this point have cost you £20!

I'm not out to get Mesh or have a grudge against them, all i want is fair treatment for all Mesh customers.

Please post your own experiences of Mesh so a balanced view can be seen by all.
I have had my Mesh computer for 11 weeks and have not been able to use it it has cost me £90 so far in phone calls then there has been letters and emails sent and i am still waiting for a reply to see if anyone is going to fix it.I think there services is appalling
.

I suggest you contact (e-mail address removed) who seems to help on other lesser forums.
Either that or contact consumer direct or bbc watchdog.
Details below:
Good luck!

I have bought two computers from Mesh in the past, My first back in 98 & again in 2003. Both have been good reliable machines and I only used the help desk for one problem(by email) and found them to be helpful but a little on the slow side, they also resolved the problem.

I placed an order with them last week for a new machine and the delivery date was 17th April...today. Upon checking for delivery today they are indicating delivery on 19th April saying that the delay is due to the graphics cards not being available(I went for an upgrade 8800GTX)... not too much of a problem I hope...

My only gripe (at the moment)is that they send you an order confirmaton with details of how to track your order. Unfortunatly this function on the website isn't working and was also confirmed by there Sales desk... that makes me nervous...

However, reading all the posts has made me feel uncomfortable even though I have had two good machines from Mesh.... I will let you know how it goes when I finaly get my machine.... assuming I get it.

Update - 18th April.... PC arrived, everything complete, tested and working fine according to my Dad.... Unfortunatly I live in Bahrain so will have to wait a week or so to get it couriered out!!!

After reading the above comments It confirms the old addage that an unhappy customer tells 10 people about his experiance while a satisfied customer doesn't....

An update from Brent Trading Standards, they can only deal with complaints from their local area. Please contact your local trading standards to deal with any problems rather than contacting the Brent office.

My local trading standards office will offer me no help.

Cheers for that Rogon:thumb:
Well if your blocked you can always sign up again with another email address!
I know a few that have had to do that.

Yeah I think they use IP blockers and dont allowed mask ones, but in reality I am just a little paranoid the site is down for everyone. Davey just emailed me.

Hexus is Mesh's own forum so it may be slightly biased!
I have used it & dealings with Davey have always resulted in getting the problem sorted quickly.
It's just a pity you have to go to a forum to get help, the customer helpline is so badly run & is costly!!

Why did Davey email you??
