Nice that HP support has been reading this newsgroup.
What would they do without us?
It would have been even nicer if hey had attributed 'their'
solutions properly.

When you try to delete it an error message of:

My computer is new with 2G RAM. Low memory or low disk space isn't an issue.
There has to be a problem inherent with Windows Mail that causes this
"Unknown Error" when attempting to use the Empty "Deleted Items" Folder.

I'm having a problem. I still can't delete email that is getting the
message, "Message could not be Displayed" . Brand new computer. Low memory
or disk space not an issue. How do I get rid of this stuff? I'm new to the
pc and not to familiar with it. Please show me a simple way. Thanks.

I cannot delete a message in my inbox (have Windows Vista). I get a message
saying 'An unknown error has occurred'. Have a new computer with loads of
memory. Can anyone help, please?

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090
It also works on other folders.

just encountered the exact same problem...things were working fine and then
the error message started popping up. my dell laptop is brand new running
vista premium and loads of memory/disk space.

Not sure about the Microsoft fix. The Microsoft site says that this is fix
applies when the messages are stuck in the Outbox.

Mine was stuck in the Inbox.

If I download the file on the Microsoft site, does it get rid of all stuck
messages or only those in the Outbox???

It also works in other folders, such as the Inbox.

If you will read the more recent posts you will see that Microsoft
did address this issue, a few months ago:

Does anyone know if Microsoft is addressing this issue? When I go to
the Microsoft web site, they want $59 to even contact
someone and my laptop is three months old.

No but I bet Microsoft is working on a new OS so that their quarterly
earnings can keep up with Apple.

If you're a 10 year old girl, then Vista is really great because you can
paint and look at pictures of clowns, but if you need a functional system do
yourself a favor and buy a laptop from the 1990's.
