Worked for me! Yet another bug with Vista. Compatibility issues starting to
wear on me as well. Having to download patches, fixes, new drivers. Old
software does not work, people with XP cannot seem to open my attachments.

The registry setting looks correct.

Alternately, you may use the following REG file to set the default spell check language:
http://www.winhelponline.com/fixes/spellchk_settings.reg

Download the file to Desktop. Right-click on the file and choose Merge. Click "Yes" to confirm. Note that this REG file does not bring back the language options in the "Spelling" tab dropdown box, but sets English as the default language. Let's know how this goes.

I've clicked on spelling and I don't get a drop down menu. I have checked
everywhere and don't see the options. I tried your following suggestion and
here's what's posted:

ThreadingModel REG_SZ Both

I tried Ramesh's suggestion below to no avail. In fact, no language drop down
appeared. Suggestions?

:

Can you list the relevant bug ID for this problem? I'm assuming it exists (or
I'm going to go create one). I'd like to track it. It's a very annoying bug
for a clean installation of your newest OS. I wish I'd seen and reported it
during beta.

:

Start Windows Mail
Click the Tools menu and choose Options...
Click the Spelling tab
From the Language drop-down, select English (default choice)
Click OK

You can't do it from the email you are wanting to spell check- You have to go to re-enter Windows Mail and follow the directions from there.

I had the same problem and what I had to do was: Open my Windows Mail; Click
on Tools on top far left hand corner; click options at the bottom of the
Tools pull down list; and it will give you tabs. Click on the Spelling tab
and at the bottom click what every language you want. Then click apply, then
click ok. Hope this helps

I have read as well. Languauge is set to English (US) and I still get the
error messaeg? What is up?
