I am also getting this message - even if there are no pictures attached! How
do we get answers on this site?

Do you get that error message when
a) you reply to a received message, or
b) you compose a new message and try to send it?

Do you have a fancy signature with an image in it?

I don't usually have any trouble sending pictures in the message of my
emails. However, I have the pictures saved on my own hard drive in a folder
named Samples under the folder "Pictures". Click on INSERT, select PICTURE,
click on BROWSE to find your file and select it, then click on OPEN. This
should insert the picture at the point where your cursor was. The only time
I have a problem is when I am forwarding a message with pictures in it and I
got around it by selecting the picture in the original email and then
clicking on SAVE AS, give it a name and select the folder name you want to
add it to. Then you just follow the directions at the beginning. I hope you
find this helpful. Sincerely, Maritimes4Ever

i only want to send a picture in my email. i don't want no trouble, just
tell me how to send a picture. not an attachment, a picture that is viewable
by the recipient. there are limited settings in the preferences and when one
does insert picture, it still pops up that stupid message. so where's the
cancer?

Make sure that file isn't open in some other program.
Windows Mail can't attach documents or images that are
still open elsewhere.

I am actually trying to send a short music file (not a picture), but I'm
still coming up with this msg. Why does it give us the option of inserting
background sounds if it won't work? Why can't I send my song?

this inability to use a file because it is in use by a folder window or some

microsoft, you suck

My sentiments exactly. MS is getting worse and worse.

That particular limitation does not exist in WM's replacement email
program, Windows Live Mail:

I still am having this same problem. The only way I can get around it is to
remember to go up to view pull down and check on send pictures once I have
the forward scene up. But I can not find anywhere where it will automatically
forward the images without me doing it to all my out going messages.

Tools | Options | Send | HTML settings and check the box to include pictures with messages. Note that if the message is in HTML, you will have to reply in HTML.

Gary-

I appreciate your attemt to help me, but I'm not trying to attach a music
file. I'm actually trying to send the e-mail with the music playing in the
background, but it doesn't work whether the file is open or not. In fact, I
even tried sending the file as an attachment and setting it in the background
(thinking maybe the problem was that the program could no longer find the
file after the e-mail was sent) but that doesn't even work. Maybe you can
still help me now that you know what I'm trying to do.

Thank You!!!
