microland technology - rubbish

well still no money back, still no word from MT.
i waited all day to see if any response had been made in the PCA forum. why should i be surprised.
i think the excuse of the senior member of staff responsible for this has been away for the last 2 weeks is complete and utter b*llsh*t. most of these problems including mine run much further back. i hope he/she did have a good holiday on my mine and other peoples money. 6 weeks on i still dont have anything to show for dealing with these idioits, i wish i had never come across this MT. dear octimon i dont know about there y/e accounts, but the best of luck with your court case, i think this will be my next move forward, my phone bill for this period was almost triple to what it normaly is. and what a surprise all to MT and my c/c in desperate bid to get my own money back!!

Dear Cazy

Still with u and all the others with these terrible problems. I just wish that PC Advisor would see it that way as well.

Lots of hugs to all

[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]Here's my story so far...

Original unit delivered badly dented 28 days after order.

ML agreed to replace with completely new unit.

Original parts came back in new case (I had made a note of the serial numbers). This was also damaged.

ML again agreed to replace with completely new unit.

Original parts again delivered in another case. This was also damaged.

Returned unit and asked for full refund.

IT support took 29 days to check returned item and pass to sales department (7 day promise on web site.)

That was 43 days ago, still nothing despite numerous promises to process refund asap.

Steve.

If the goods arrived damaged three times, I would suspect that the courier has been negligent in delivering the goods, and you may have a case against them too.

Hi noticed this thread on a google search.

I have bought a motherboard/CPU/heatsink from these clowns. I was attracted by the low price and that they had a 64 2800+ in stock.

I wish I had just google searched them before I bought anything. But as it is I have seen all the many complaints.

I ordered the goods on Monday morning at 10.30 and have recieved no shipping confirmation yet (all items in stock) this is ridiculously slow. Overclock.co.uk and casetech.co.uk have both got my items to me and I ordered them at the same time.

The delivery charge is 9.00 which is insanely high for a courier! overclock charges 7.00 and I ordered there and got my goods next day.

My recommendation is also not to deal with these guys. Frankly they have taken too long already for my tastes. Of course the money flew out of my account(switch) lightning fast. And the phone lines are terrible. I was waiting for 30 mins with no response. There is also no way to tell what point in the queue you are.

What is to stop them shipping the same day it was processed. I mean my goods have been sitting in their warehouse for 3 full days now! thats crazy.

If only I had just used my trusted sites ie/overclockers, overclock and casetech. I feel like punching myself in the face for being such a gulible tw*t. I know I should be patient but I haven't given up hope yet but I am very scared of losing my £190 pounds. I just can't afford to throw away that kind of money.

Is there any way of getting my money back? through my ban etc... and would I have to cancel my order to take things further with the bank?

all this for the sake of saving 30 pound or something. Never again I tell you

thanks

Sam

Just thought I would add that I understand my rights as a consumer as I am studying the sale of goods, supply of goods act, unfair contract terms, consumer credit, trade description etc.. at University in a consumer law course.

there seems to be a great community here and I look forward to being a part of it. Off to the intro forum I go.

hi sam (helmit)

i dont know what to say, im gobsmacked this is still happening, microland has had so many complaints against them e.g trading standards, forums even watchdog, it makes me sick when i read new post's like yours, something has to be done. your story is very simular to mine, said items was in stock, master card debited within hours, then nothing, i cancelled 2 weeks after i purchased because they lied about there stock levels and told me they had no idea when it would be in stock, and as you can guess after 4 weeks from canceling i still have no refund, it is taking me all my time with the help of trading standards and my c/c to try and get my money back. i really dont know how you will beable to deal with this as you paid on your switch card, as i understand only credit card holders are covered by this. i really sympathise as i am going through this too, but i know for sure any email you send them from now will not be answered, ive sent atleast 50 or so, no response and like you say there phone line is joke. please keep us informed of your situation

Are these guys going out of business?

if so wouldn't administrators answer emails? if only to tell us we can whistle for our money etc...

Let me get this straight. There is no real way to get your money back if you pay with switch.

Except maybe court action. I can't really afford even small claims proceedings.

If we have the home addresses of the directors as I think I have read then can you do a lookup of their phone number on ?192.com? or something? anyone tried it?

my email addy is ltross[@]blueyonder[dot]co[dot]uk send me any details on the directors or whatever.

thanks again.

sorry about the jumbled address.

hi helmet
i dont think they are going out of buisness even though the way i feel right now, i wish they would, as for court action, if you do win all costs are paid back, but its the trouble of paying up front first, and gabriella does have a list of all company directors, she does usualy look in on this forum quite often, but her email adress is on 1 of these posts somewere, take a look and mail her, she will be willing to help, as for the phone lock up im not sure

best regards
cazy

I have now ordered my stuff from overclock.co.uk. they should manage to get it to me!

are there any updates on legal processes or trading standards stuff?

I will email Gabriella at some point as well. Never mess with a woman scorned ;-)

Some updates for the fellow unfortunates.

I was called by customer service today. (Matthew) and told that the problem with my order is that they are awaiting the arrival of my chaintech motherboard. This would be arriving today and I should have my stuff by Tuesday. I asked if it was an optimistic estimate but no. Definitely Tuesday.

Shame I have already purchased elsewhere but I can always sell on ebay or something.

They seem to be keeping a close eye on this forum because I was asked why I was enquiring about MD addresses etc...

I have the address of someone at the company. I assume Matthew from customer service and was told to email him with any enquiries. I am going to ask his permission to put his address on this board.

Some hope for people yet? especially people who are awaiting delivery etc...

Dear Hetmet

Email me at: (e-mail address removed) and I will send you the comapny directors details obtained through Companies House website. Unfortunately Switch isn't covered so you may want to check out a very useful guide to consumer rights on this site, consider Small Claims Court and please do contact Stockport Trading Standards for further help andsupport.

Just a lttle and gentle PS cos I am really sorry to hear about your situation and I, like many many others have been there and know what the worry and anxiety is like - but please I am not a woman scorned. I was misled, lied to by this company and went to hell and back in trying to resolve matters. I just take the view that I will offer what support I can to others on the basis that I found others in the same situation helpful to me. All that I do will be honest, fair, legal and well informed and will be done with a good heart.

helmet
good luck for your tuesday arrival, please let us know what happens. i have been to my solicitors yesterday for advice, i have a pre written letter that trading standards has emailed to me to forward to my credit company, there time for refund is now up. my letter to bbc watchdog as also been sent with the list of there company directors.and i know im not the only person who has contacted watchdog.,ive also contacted trading standards again as they requested me to and let them know what is happening. thankyou to the FE of pcadvisor who also has tried to help ,letting me know my situation etc. and also invited MT to join the PCA forum but as you can guess they havent shown up(i wonder why). i hope MT do read these forums because i have had enough, as im intitled to legal help at the moment, with the help of my solicitor i will persue compensation for my losses. 1 thing that puzzles me so much is the fact they know my c/c can get my money so why do they hold onto it so long? i know they have a certain time limit to refund but making you wait the 30 days is stupid and in some cases even after 30 days there is no refund. they make there own trouble and i promise this isnt the last they will hear from me and they know who i am.

take care
caz

are most peoples experiences with PC components?

I was thinking that I may get lucky as I ordered components. Maybe they are taking orders for PC's when they do not have the stuff to pt them together in their warehouse.

also are all the people in this thread persuing money or has anyone just recieved items very late?

Ordered form Microland technology computer parts in April and cancelled the very next day before the goods were dispatched. Yet three days later received an email telling me my goods had been dispatched. I called back and they said not to worry, just to refuse the goods and they would refund my money. As instructed refused to take delivery of the goods and thought nothing of it. Till happened to check my credit card account about 14 days later when noticed the money had not been refunded. Since than have sent repeated emails and made many phone calls which have had no effect. They say refunding my money is now on top priority for them but they have been telling that for many months. It has been four months since I cancelled but not yet received a refund.

If you order from them and need any customer service you will find you will spend most of the day waiting for them to answer the phone and when they do you will not get any help. And if you ever want a refund I guess you have to forget it.

AVOID THEM THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY USELESS.

Dear ijk

Get onto yur c/c pronto they can and will help you - take them through events. By law MT have 30 days to refund your money and they are well over that. I too bought and paid by c/c in April and had to get the bank to intervene. MT promised me my money but it never showed.

Get onto Stockport Trading Standards too.

every day there seems to be a new case concerning microland wich goes to show they run there company like this all the time. anybody know how big the company is? i think its ran from somebodys bedroom, lets face it anybody can create a website and run a buisness as badly as they do, trading standards has had many complaints about MT so why dont they investigate them? i thought they were he to protect us from people like them

All i know about the company size is that they are a PLC. Dont know what is invloved in that but it is a lot more hassle than becoming a ltd I would imagine. According to pc pro mag they have 5 sales and 6 support staff. They also have what three directors?

I am strangely reassured that you all seem to be having problems getting a cancellation of an order. I have no intention of cancelling so maybe I will be OK?

The guy from customer support gave me his email address as I said and I sent him an email that day. I didn't get a reply all Friday. I am asking myself how busy they can possibly be?

**crosses fingers for tuesday**

I don't think I have thanked you people for your concern yet.

Thanks!

Dear Hetmet

My issue was not with a cancellation but rather their failure to deliver to contractual agreement. The themes seem to be (in no particular order): failure to deliver to contract, not honouring cancellations, faulty goods on delivery, post delivery goods that become faulty in a short space of time. However, the top and bottom of all the theme is that getting a response and for them to honour it is nigh on impossible which is why people are having to use consumer legislation including Distance Selling legislation and getting c/c to intervene. From recent posts here and elsewhere, some people are either in the process or are considering action through the Small Claims Court.

The whole thing is dire, has been going on for an age and quite why magazines continue to review and rave about their products is quite beyond me. If there were just 1 or 2 people you could probably accept some errors but this situation is ridiculous. You may be aware that PC Advisor invited MT to comment publicly on their site and to date, the silence says all.

As far as I can see, the public need to make some very loud and clear nosies about situations such as these. I am sure that we are all sensible and considered people and will make our noises peacefully and legally but MT need to be under no illusions about the sheer amount of unhappy people out there. My sympathies go to those people also who perhaps haven't accessed sites like these and are sat at home worried senseless about losing hard earned money.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
I have been in touch with my credit card company barclaycard who have currently refused to help.
Below is their reply:.......................

With regard to any disputed or unauthorised transactions which may
appear on an account, there are legal proceedings we are obligated to
follow in order to be able to assist our cardholder with any disputed.
transactions

Unfortunately, due to the length of time which has passed since the
transaction you are querying was posted to your account, I regret to
inform you that we are now unable to make representation to the retailer
on your behalf. You will therefore need to contact the
merchant/retailer directly.

I am sorry that we are unable to assist you with this matter.

................................I have written back asking for further clarification.

I have written to watch dog.
And also done the reviews on dooyoo and romulus which I am sure after being read by customers they will not touch MT even with a barge pole.
Unfortunately tried sending a email to stockport trading standards via their website but there seems to be a problem. Hopefully will contact them on monday.
Will look into the small claims court.
And if there are any other sites where I warn customers please let me know
