Can You please send me the instructions on how to delete, "an unknown
error
has occurred". This site is only displaying the questions and not the
answers on how to help with this problem. Please someone help me with
this.

No, we can't. You do not give a real email address and the fact that you
can't figure out how to click the + in front of a message isn't our problem.

Posting the same message every few minuter seldom gets you help any faster.

Download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders.

It may or may not delete the message causing the problem, but it
should at least make it possible for you to delete it.

This fix (alt-E-Y) does not fix the problem. All (alt-E-Y) does is empty the
Deleted Items folder.

The problem here is that a particular email cannot be touched at all: can't
delete it, can't move it, can't add its sender to Junk mail, etc. Windows
Mail seems to be completely stuck by this.

PS - I long ago installed Vista SP-1. That does not fix the problem either.

Such problems are often due to interference from an antivirus program.
What if any antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever had a
Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that computer, even a trial
version?

For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix, with Windows
Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders.

If it doesn't delete the problem messages, it should at least make it
possible for you to delete them.

Thank you. This worked.

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in

of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first.
This hotfix is also available as past of the Vista SP1 update, but that
takes longer to install.
