You want NFilter

I tried Nfilter but I had no success configuring it :/

Hey, would you still considering Xnews? I just found out that
it seems to be doing exactly the thing you mentioned.

As you know, I am using Hamster and Xnews. I only read one
group usually. But just made one post to both here and the
fan.mozilla group about firefox and found that after I read
the two replies (that were posted to both groups) in here, I
checked the fan.mozilla group with Xnews and the two posts
were not found. I didn't do anything specific with Xnews and
I *think* it is just how Xnews behave by default.

Of course, there must be someone who are more knowledgable on
Xnews than I am, who would be able to tell if my guess (along
with the rumors I heard) is true.

Your guess is right. Xnews uses the Message-ID to mark an article as
read, so once it is marked read in any group, it is marked read in all.
If you want to see them in the moxilla group, you'd have to 'open
special' or 'refresh headers special' and then download read headers.

Some of it can be a bit hit and miss, and it depends also on what
headers your newsserver sends, but for x-post filtering it is plain
sailing. I use it for this group on one of the puters to delete any
post x-posted to 24hr helpdesk or the XP troll group.
If you say what you want, i might be able to help..
