That depends on what you mean by "must". I agree it should be done for Avast
if relevant, but when I installed Avast about a year and a half ago, I did
not even know that I should disable email scanning. More important than
that, I am not aware of anyone having problems with Avast.
I am not saying that Avast is better than Windows Security Essentials. If I
were installing Windows now, I would probably try WSE, if for no other
reason to give it a try. I trust the experts that it works, and it seems
reasonable to me that Microsoft should take responsibility of protecting us
from malicious software.
