I find for getting real work done, Microsoft Word does the job just fine.
Much better than the OpenOffice suite.

I find that ABIWord is better for word processing than Open Office. It
has more features and opens a helluva lot quicker than Open Office's word
processor.
Bill believe it or not some people cannot afford Word. Although its the
Rolls Royce of word processors/

I hope someone is still reading these. Can someone recommend between
openoffice, ABIWord, and Easyoffice suite? And do I need the java
download
prior to loading OpenOffice? Thanks so much.
Open Office.

Go to: www.openoffice.org for a complete office suite that I favor over MS
Office as it costs $350 less and can open MS Office files and save them in
the International Open Document Format, which MS Office can NOT do. Many
countries and governments are switching to OpenOffice so that they can
freely exchange data in the ODF format and will never be locked in to a
losing format. While you may be able to find something that MS Office can
do that Open Office can not, it certainly is not worth $350 and beside, Open
Office allows you to save your documents as a .pdf file which MS does not.
You can download OpenOffice for free in almost any language.
