I have just logged on to this NG and it is full of hate and venom. Is this
usual for people who want free stuff or have I stumbled into a twilight
zone?

I find the group very good.Most of what offends can be filtered....and
there,s far far more venomous groups than this one :)

Mmm ok...while we are commenting , may I make one?.Its usually best to use a
munged email address (i presume you are using your real one?) rather than
your real one on a public newsgroup.Not everone agrees with this..but as you
say , some newsgroups are full of hate and venom.
