I am not sure as to what will affect VHB, but there are "other"
functionalities will be disabled which may apply to VHB and Aero is one of
those but not for VHB in this case.

Wait...are you telling me there is another feature to Vista besides Aero
Glass??? ;)

Sure. I am assuming that the validation will run silently and if all is OK
the user will not be aware of it, not that the user has to proactively
validate.

The anti-piracy is here to stay, due to the fact that Windows is the most
pirates/copied software in the world.

That's stupid on MS' part because it only alienates paying customers and
does nothing to stop piracy.
I guess you had better learn to accept activation and WGA. It's not going
away any time soon, unless Microsoft starts supplying a dongle to boot into
Windows (which I wouldn't object to either).

Actually, one can install and use XP without WGA if one is willing to
forgo WMP11, IE7 and Defenseless. All one has to do is use automatic
update set at notify but don't download or install and never choose WGA.

Just like having a door lock on your front door proves to everyone who
visits you that ***you*** believe that THEY are a thief.

Your draconian and arrogant "anti theft" methods are certain to alienate
those who come to your home.

Anti-theft measures keep an honest person honest. They do not
necessarily prevent thievery and loss!

Um, please read my refutation to this lame analogy where you first
posted it. MS is not a home but a business. The only businesses I know
that have locked doors are jewelry stores and you don't have to pass
three thief tests to get in a buy a diamond ring. And, being as we are
using analogies, Microsoft would be more like McDonalds whose doors are
open for business every day.

So...what happens when you pirate Vista Basic?

Classic mode reverts to Windows 3.1 style?

Classic mode reverting to Windows 2000?

If that's the case, that would be the easiest way probably to get
everything to switch to classic mode. How convenient! That is the only
way I run windows on my machines, as lean and mean as possible.

I know, I thought that was interesting too. Kinda like, kids, you're
grounded from color TV. Black and white is fine, but no color till you get
your grades up.

Well, with all of the bickering here I suppose I am going to end up with my
post being lots. If anyone would like to get back on the subject, there are
thosos us whoh are not experienced tchs andd who are experiencing more than
just validlation problems with WGA...I was hoping to find somes mhelp here.
AM I on the wrong forum or something? I am desperate, and this bickering has
gone on for so long. I would just honestly love to find out if you think
there is a solution to my problem or not. If I take my pc to microsft pc
center in Camb MA, does anyone think they will have a solution? They are
adept at working nwith Microsoft and other vendors...I just do not have the
money to spend on this right now and thought that the forums might help.
MaybeI shoud repost in a few days.
The one person who replied asked only if I had read other posts re
this..when in my post I already said I did..how was that helpful? WOW. I'm
more disgusted now than before. It's not an ideal or fair world, and so many
have opposing or varying opinions. What can you do? I see the addys given on
other threads where to complain nto Microsoft and must admit to my being
skeptible after trying to work with them for so many years..who can afford to
call Microsoft every time ther eis a problem? I can't. My verion of xp wsa
installed andn validated; a pc guy built my machine. I was isll at the time
and he got me one that I didn;t watn but I got stuck wtih it. There is no
tech support for it; a Powerspec.

Then go back to the PC guy who gave you something that you didn't want and
ask him to rectify whatever problem you have..
