the page works fine for me (Firefox 2.0, WinXP); it is displayed correctly.
So it's not a general Firefox issue.

It works for me, too, if I maximize FF, which I don't usually do.

Hello!

Seamonkey is not FF with IE extension - that's Netscape capability
(it can use both Trident and Gecko for rendering)

I didn't say it was.
BTW, I tried with Firefox 2 and the above mentioned page is OK
Maybe you have installed one of the problematic Firefox extensions.

Try opening FF to a site that isn't this page. Then make sure your FF is
NOT at Maximum. Close FF. Then click on the above URL.

switch over to Ubuntu completely, I may very well either add the http://www.beranger.org/index.php?fullarticle=2022

if Novell has shown how non-ethical its dealings can be,
Shark Muddleworth has unmasked himself through a single mail!

If Ubuntu is so good, how come you have not switched over completely
already? Maybe you should look for a more capable Linux variant, Suse
10.1, for instance..

I was in hospital having an operation. Good enough excuse?

no they made a piracy support system.. they increase the price of vista
so now no one will want to buy it...
I would not be suprised to se a piracy update site that will counterattck
the windows update site ...

real smart move microsoft! You just sank your flagship on your own!

Microsoft have finally figured out how to work a decent anti-piracy
system, although you can bet your dollar that it will wind up being
cracked sooner or later.

Or I could add the IE extension to FF but I have no real inclination to do
it as I still have IE6 and it works fine for IE only pages. Once I switch
over to Ubuntu completely,

You will have our condolences for your loss.

Novell's version of Linux is connected to Microsoft. No thanks.

... by a short fuse.. Ubuntu is kid's Linux.. at least use a decent variant..

Just like having a door lock on your front door proves to everyone who
visits you that ***you*** believe that THEY are a thief.

Your draconian and arrogant "anti theft" methods are certain to alienate
those who come to your home.

Anti-theft measures keep an honest person honest. They do not necessarily
prevent thievery and loss!

Bad analogy. Are you saying that paying customers cannot go into a store
to make purchases because the door is locked?

Microsoft is not a home but a business.

All Microsoft's anti piracy measures do is inconvenience paying
customers and they give pirates something new to crack.

Time you bite the bullet and jump to Ubuntu - 100%. After all, you are just
soooo unhappy with anything Microsoft.

You have no credible reply so you tell me to buzz off. Actually, I like
XP and would never even consider Linux if it weren't for the endless
"anti piracy" crap that Windows users are forced to jump through and the
insulting assumption that every Windows user is a thief until they prove
otherwise.

Sooo, you were wrong about the home analogy and you're wrong when you
say I hate anything Microsoft. You're not doing too well, Dick.

The anti-piracy is here to stay, due to the fact that Windows is the most
pirates/copied software in the world.

I guess you had better learn to accept activation and WGA. It's not going
away any time soon, unless Microsoft starts supplying a dongle to boot into
Windows (which I wouldn't object to either).

If you mean Vista Home Basic, you don't get Aero Glass anyway. You have to
have Home Premium and above to get Glass.

It isn't activation, but Windows Genuine Advantage validation that you have
to pass to get Aero Glass. You won't validate without activating, but
pirate activation schemes are out there. They only make the system think it
is activated. WGA can catch that stuff.

Lang Murphy said:
Am I missing something here? I thought if one didn't
activate/register/whatever within the allotted time, that Vista would not
allow access to the OS... is that wrong? If not, what difference does Aero
make in that equation?

Not being disagreeable... just wondering...

That's my point. If you pirate VHB, there is no Aero Glass to take away.

[...]activation and WGA.

I shall remind you, regardless if you agree or not, that most of us are
talking about WGA N which is not the same as WGA and has nothing to do with
activation.

If Alias mentioned "Actually, I like XP [...]", it implies he can take
"activation" and "WGA" as well, which are the current practice for XP.
Note: Please correct me, Alias or anyone, if I misinterpreted your words, or
otherwise, those two are not the case.

So with all due respect to your discussion, which by no means I want to
hijack or interfere, I am just politely pointing out the issues of focus, so
you two could continue your discussion.

Hi,

I assume it's not WGA (which is based on user initiated verification), it is
based on WGA N, by which system information will be periodically and
automatically sent to the company's database for verification purpose (based
on so-called updated pirate database), and once it determines it's not a
genuine copy (for whatever reasons), reduced functionalities mode (including
Aero) will kick it.
