Gary, YOU ARE EXACTLY ON TARGET!!
Go to the main Windows Mail screen, not the message compose screen. Under
TOOLS you can indicate your preferences for spellcheck done by clicking on
the "SPELLING" TAB!!! I'm a total computer fool and his answer was perfect!
It appears that Windows Vista set the spelling defaults to do nothing. All
you have to do is unclick the boxes to get it to operate--- slightly
backward, but still easy to do.

By making it clearer which screen to be in, I followed your instructions and
my spell checker is now working.
Thankyou for taking the time to post your mail, it realy helped and worked
for me.

Hey Carla,
Did you ever get your spell check in your e-mails fixed? If so how did you do
it I need mine fixed

Windows Mail comes with the default language for spelling checks
partly set to English, but not enough to work. To correct this,
click on Tools, the Options, then Spelling, then the triangle to the
right of English, then some other language, then Apply, then the
triangle again, then English, then Apply again, then OK.

I too had this issue with the error message "Language is no longer
available for spell checking. Please select another in the spelling
options dialoge".
and changed it to German then did the spell check (it
was written in English) and when I did the spell check it said the spelling
check was complete (indicating it was correct)! So I then changed the spell
check back to "English" and
misspelled words on purpose-it still said your spelling check is complete.
Any
other suggestions?

Rich my sentiments exactly, I originated this Vista Spell check not working
I should have put in word, everybody seem to have assumed e mail. I'm
writing a book and I cannot figure out how to spell check, I'm getting errer
message and my misspelled words do not change.

How come when I go into a Mexican restaurant the combinations are all
different from each other? For example, I want it so that the #5 in every
Mexican restaurant is: Two Taco's, corn bread, and beans. And I want it
that way everytime I walk into any Mexican restaurant in the future also, no
changes. Japanese, Italian and Greek restaurants can have different
numbering systems. That's ok. (April Fool...?)

Too bad the layout changed. I think you are seeing just the tip of the
iceberg. Future products will be far worse I suspect.

Responders here automatically assume that any problems refer to
Windows Mail, since that is what this newsgroup is dedicated to.
Problems with Word should be referred to a newsgroup dealing
with that particular program.

RE : I really don't understand why people are having so much difficulty
finding this
If one thinks like a layman does, then it is logical ( for a layman's point
of view ) to look for spelling options when one is composing.
Therefore, one cannot find Options.

Well, when I just clicked on the "check the communities," the "language not
supported" error evaporated into thin air and now it works fine. Apparently,
it was a temporary error; this fits with the original post by Carla.
