Vista is truly a pile of dog crap when it comes to SATA drives

Like I said, "you wont address that." You never do.

You live in a dream world. I have addressed 'it' (my system specs) and
I'm discussing it right now in this very thread with people that care,
unlike you where it seems you're only purpose is trying to engage me
and others in one pissing contest after another, a sure sign of a
juvenile.

Have you considered getting professional help for your delusional
problems? I highly recommend you do.

You do realize that people can actually READ and they can SEE what's going
on? Just because you lie about it later, that doesn't reverse what you did.

Once again:

In POST 1 you did NOT post your specs then when asked for the FIRST TIME you
gave an attitude and implied you already did.

Like I said, "you wont address that." You never do. Now it's post 13.

Yep, that's pretty much it, I hate to buy a SATA controller card only
to find out it won't work either. I suspect Windows is just getting
confused over something.

Well, if it counts, I kick the kids off their system and stole their hard
drives and used the SATA card to create a 2 disk RAID 0. This is with a
160GB Hitachi and a 160GB Seagate

Drive: H:
Free Space: 304.9 GB
Total Space: 305.0 GB
File System: NTFS
Model: HPT DISK 0_2 SCSI Disk Device

Here it is setup as a RAID1
Drive: H:
Free Space: 152.4 GB
Total Space: 152.5 GB
File System: NTFS
Model: HPT DISK 0_2 SCSI Disk Device

I don't think I've ever used the on-board controllers for RAID. I've either
always used and IDE controller or just recently a SATA controller for RAID.
Though now that the 400GB drives are so cheap, I don't really have a need to
RAID them..

Anyways, Hope this helps

In Windows XP I always had the Quick Launch bar undocked from the start menu
and along the left hand side of my second monitor with the icons set to
large. However, in Vista I can't seem to undock the stupid thing. Can this
be done or was this another brilliant move by Microsoft?

Any suggestions for a good replacement that DOES NOT use the goodie bar,
gadget bar, crap bar thing?

Thanks,

=(8)

Forums? Live chat? Telephone line?

I have an ASUS board (P5B). I didn't have any problems with Vista, but I
need help with some general issues. It was tricky to find out how to get
formal support, but as the Forums were so active my problems were solved
quickly anyway. I'd recommend this route... there is always someone else who
has the same problem(s).

I also have an ASUS board, a P5B Deluxe with WiFi. i don't use the Wifi.
I've had no problems with VISTA that related to the board. I'm running a
WD Raptor 150 gig, a Samsung 500 gig, both SATA, an ATI 1950 Pro, a fax
modem, MS wireless keyboard and mouse, and about a gazillion USB plug-in
devices.

I've had some really minor "software" issues that have mostly been
resolved. I successfully installed my ancient scanner using the Win 2k
CD that came with it. I had been using the Zone Alarm suite for
security, but it doesn't have a released VISTA version yet. So I'm
trying out a Kaspersky suite, which seems to work just fine.

I think a good deal of my success is related to the fact that I went
with a fresh install, and did not install over XP or anything else.
