thuis language is no longer avaible

I found that my language was already set to English, so I selected another
language, (see how below) and did a spell check with that. I then returned to
the Options and changed it back to English. This seemed to reset the English
spelling dictionary.

Start Windows Mail
Click the Tools menu and choose Options...
Click the Spelling tab
From the Language drop-down, select English (default choice)
Click OK

I tried these steps, teh language bare doesn't drop down after I click
spelling. & I keep getting the same error message.

That was rather simple to fix although it was frustrating that I had to even
go through the process.

There is a cardinal rule with computers: If a setting doesn't seem
to be working, toggle it on and off a few times.

I click on the Tools/Options, but there is no Spelling tab. Just a series
of tabs "Main" "Tabs" "Contents" "Feeds" etc Clicking on each of these I
still cannot find "Spelling" S-MVP

Close all WinMail windows.
Open WinMail.
Click Tools | Options.

Oh, looks like you're in Windows Live Mail, not Windows Mail. Same
instructions.

Thank you so much. I followed your instructions and now my spell check works
perfectly. Have a great holiday.

You're welcome James.

The registry setting looks correct.

Alternately, you may use the following REG file to set the default spell check language:
http://www.winhelponline.com/fixes/spellchk_settings.reg

Download the file to Desktop. Right-click on the file and choose Merge. Click "Yes" to confirm. Note that this REG file does not bring back the language options in the "Spelling" tab dropdown box, but sets English as the default language. Let's know how this goes.

I've clicked on spelling and I don't get a drop down menu. I have checked
everywhere and don't see the options. I tried your following suggestion and

I tried Ramesh's suggestion below to no avail. In fact, no language drop down
appeared. Suggestions?

There is *NO* options tab in tools menu!!!
Not in the english version, any how???
This is a dead end answer.
MS don't ask us to fix your product.

Close all Windows Mail windows.
Restart the computer.
Open Windows Mail. On the very first window after openint Windows Mail
click Tools | Options and go to the Sprlling tab.

This is NOT a dead end answer. You're probably looking at the compose window. You need to click the "Tools" option in the *main* window of Windows Mail.

I want to check my spelling and it won't let me It comes up this language is no longer avaiable

Have you installed Outlook? It can interfere with spell checking in some
languages.

If not, click on Tools in your main Windows Mail window, then Options,
then Spelling. The default setting under language is not fully set to
English, so click on the triangle to the right of English, then click on
some other language, then Apply, then the triangle again, then
English, then Apply again, then OK.
