This language is no longer available for spell checking

Think about it... you start WM for the first time... the default option for
spelling is set to not action taken to correct so the default message is the
language (instead of something like the user has not activated the spell
checker). Both you and Texas hero need to use your brains to thing rather
than to respond without thinking.

When and where did you say you were starting WM " FOR THE FIRST TIME " ?
Furthermore, if you just want to open an discussion, say so first.
We are here merely trying to help people who have problems with computer, we
are not here for such " intellectuals " like you, least of all engaging in
discussion of such " deep " thoughts. Some of us do have a life.

Thank you!!! This worked just as you said. Just wondering though, why would
we have to do this in order for spell check to work if English is default -
is this a system glitch?

It's a known bug in Windows Mail. Once you apply that fix, it will be good
from then on.

If you are asking about Messenger, you will need to post in its dedicated
newsgroup.

Really for such a simple little fix required because of a known bug in vista,
this sure got alot of unnecessary repetitive b.s.; I would love to see a real
issue like the need for adobe to correct their flash player to work with the
64 bit version of internet explorer. That blog would be a never ending
story...

Gary had the correct answer to begin with along time ago.

I go to tools, like everyone is saying, but when I do that there is no
options for me to click on too. There is a spelling one to click on too.
But is I click on to that I just get the same message "This language is no
longer available for spell checking." Where do I find where I can choose a
language?

Irish you really should have opened a new thread. This one dates back
almost a month.

Are you on Vista Windows Mail? You should have an "Options" at the end of
the Tools list - be sure you are going to Tools on your main email screen -
not on a newsgroup or compose screen. Then go to the Spelling tab and
follow the instructions previously given.

If you continue to have issues please open a new thread for this.

Bettis Alston wrote: For Vista Windows Mail. The following is the absolute
correct way. Open Windows Mail/Tools/Options/ Click on the SPELLING Tab/Put
a check mark in the ( Always check spelling before sending ) ( That was my
problem ) then select the language you want./Click on Apply at the bottom
right corner of page/ then click OK That should fix you up. By the way,
if you are not using FireFox for a add on browser, in conjunction with your
regular Browser. it has a Spelling Check that you can use on websites such as
asking a question on eBay about an item there will be a red line under the
misspelled word It will not work in or when your using your email program.
FireFox by Mozilla is a much faster search engine than most others. Your
Google, Yahoo, etc. will work in sequence with your regular Browser and you
will still have your normal browser tabs.

*** Be sure you are going to Tools on your main email screen - where the
Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, etc., are listed on the left - not on a newsgroup
or compose screen.

Then go to the Spelling Tab - Language (at bottom) - select some OTHER
language - not English - Apply - Okay.

Then go back in and select English. Then it should work.

NO, Becky Jo, -- it's just an inducement to spend $120 to upgrade to WINDOWS
7, where I bet there IS a spell-check utility, but, ALAS, NO WINDOWS MAIL
PROGRAM to evoke it.
