I go to tools, like everyone is saying, but when I do that there is no
options for me to click on too. There is a spelling one to click on too.
But is I click on to that I just get the same message "This language is no
longer available for spell checking." Where do I find where I can choose a
language?

I have Windows XP, and have tried the tips listed, but I can't change my
language setting, it is stuck on "French."

In the drop down menu I can select "English", hit Apply, then OK. When I go
back to Tools, Spelling; French is again there.

Any thoughts on what I can do?

Thanks

This group is for Windows Mail, which only runs on Vista, not XP.

Are you really running Windows Mail, or some other program?

SDCB asks: How do I get to the Windows Vista "tools" area that will enable
me to select the language preference I desire for my Windows Messanger Spell
Check?

My vista is 2 yrs old & never had a problem..... why now! I am so greatful to
you for finding the solution, You saved me much time and effort. Have a great
great day.... Chazie

In the main screen of Windows Mail, (not the compose screen), go to
Tools, Options, Spelling.
First select another language, click Apply. Then reselect English and click OK.

If you are asking about Messenger, you will need to post in its dedicated
newsgroup.

For what it's worth, I attempted the same fix (before I read GenXer's post)
and the idea worked. It's the modern-day equivalent (I'm 55!) of starting
obstinate machinery by kicking it.

It's real easy.

Select another language, Apply, then go back and select English, and Apply.
Tools - Options - spelling

Look under "Tools" in the main program window, not in the message
composition window.

This works but like many other "issues" with Vista Microsoft needs to rfix
them such as in this case changing the message of making selection the
default choice. However, as an upgraded version of Outlook Express it has
many of the features of Outlook that were needed to be included like a junk
mail folder.
....but then I have not yet looked at the rule making capability...

What are you talking about ?
What " making default choice " ?
Junk mail folder is under the Folder List. Have you looked ?

Yes, it is difficult to understand what the person is saying but I think
they are saying that Windows Mail does have a junk folder; they are saying
that OE did not but Windows Mail does. Most of the rest of the message is
confusing to me too.
