Norton and McAfee antivirus programs are known for causing
problems with Windows Mail - not immediately, but often weeks
or months after they are installed.

Before installing Norton AV you should have asked for advice here.
I'm afraid you jumped from the frying pan into the fire as far as
your antivirus goes. Windows Mail does not seem to like Norton
(or McAfee) antivirus.

Adding crap like Norton or McAfee to crap like Windows Mail,
makes for one big pile of ca-ca.

My computer, Windows Vista Ultimate, Dell XPS 420 keeps restarting and
restarting and restarting...
Computer Specs; Vista Ultimate, DELL XPS 420, 4GB RAM, 2 - 250GB HD
(Mirrored), dual DELL 1908WFP monitors, and that's it...
When it starts back up, it keeps popping up a screen that tells me that has
caused a problem...
it asks me to go to the Windows Update website but there are NO updates on
it for this computer...
It has all of its updates... except for the language updates…
It keeps getting a BSOD Driver_Power_State_Failure... 0x00000009F...
whatever that is...
Could you please tell me what you think would cause that??? The computer
will only stay on
about 30 to 45 mins and then it crashes… This time it crashed when I was in
display settings...

Troubleshooting... apparently there are more than 117 unsigned drivers in
the DELL default version of the
NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT v7.15.11.6736, dated 10-19-07... but in the newer
driver v7.15.11.6925, dated 12-11-07
there are only 4...

I'll try to remember to let you know how it turns out...
If you know anything more about this problem please let me know...

Assuming the following error:

2. Windows not updated.

After calling DELL and having them take over my computer talk me through
resetting it to it's DELL factory defaults never asking if I had backed up my
system or if so how I had done it, seems like a million times (TWO WEEKS), a
few times... I called MS and used thier loophole for helping with MS updates
no matter what... it worked great... this girl, Anna helped me go through the
log files on my computer with a fresh set of eyes... even though my computer
continuously crashed, BSOD, restarted, and popped up a windows box telling me
that I had a driver problem and I needed to go to MS updates and fix it...
this was NOT entirely true... it was extremely misleading... I looked at my
update histroy and it said that my only failed driver was for the dual
1908WFP (Digital) monitors... It said "FAILED" right next to them... all the
other updates were successful... after we looked at the system log files we
discovered that the cdrom drive kept failing...
we went into the device manager and removed thier drivers... did a scan, it
found them and re-installed them... PROBLEM SOLVED...
How woulda' thunk it... the pre-installed cdrom drivers were killing the
computer... I'm amazed... once again I really hope that this helps someone
out there...

What's the BSOD msg/error #?

I get the same message "Blue screen" problem.. After shutting down the
computer, he won't shut down. After several minutes he restarts the system
again. Sometimes I am lucky and the computer shuts down. Other times he
restarts again.

What is the solution for this problem. I have a new system just for a week.
And already there is a problem.!!!!!!

BSOD are often associated with poor drivers.

In your case, it will be difficult to figure out which component is at
fault. I would recommend removing all non-essential devices (for example
discrete network cards/sound cards/graphics cards/modems etc) from your
system before booting into Safe Mode If you can't boot into safe mode, then
reinstall on this cut-down configuration.

If you can get in to windows like this, then add one device back on at a
time, rebooting between each one.

CJM

The meaning of a blue screen/stop error is dependent on the error message,
there is a myriad of causes. Without details, it's impossible to tell you
what the problem could be.
I have a new system just for a week. And already there is a problem.!!!!!!

Then it would be under warranty and the manufacturer should be contacted. A
stop error can be a sign of damaged/faulty hardware, and this would not be
resolvable by the end user. On a system under warranty, you should not even
be messing with it, this is why warranties exist.
