I've tried these too.. and this problem still persists.. Is this a way for
Microsoft to Get us to make a $35.00 tech chat or request to them to solve
this problem,, it seems to be because nothing that I have researched or done
on any malware/spyware/virus protectection program has seemed to fix me back
to what I want. I really am getting fed up with Microsoft's Oh holier than
Thou and
Our Cr*P doesn't Stink Because we are are the best in the buissness nonsense
they keep spouting. If they can't keep XP running smoothly after 3 years of
it than I don't think that anyone would dare try Vista. I'm going to Go
complain to Tech Since It is An inherent computer problem and nothing that
they have been able to solve in any other many and it seems to have started
after their updates and so they might just have to help for free.

Try disabling anything Norton and see if that helps. If not, try doing a
system restore to a date and time prior to the problem starting. And in the
old one if you have SR on it too.
Hope this helps.

I done all that has been suggested and still has not fixed the problem. So
I started my old computer to check the settings on it. It has changed
also. I rarely use the old computer, but try to start it once a week or so
to make sure that the virus and windows software is up to date. Well low
and behold the search pane has changed in it also. I have not surfed the
web with it in a very long time.
So at this point I am assuming that either windows or norton auto updates
are the problem. But I don't know how to find what happened.
