What happens when the beta is done? Will we be stuck with a non working
system and have to buy immediately or revert back to old OS?

I'd like to try Vista, but I read that it's not as secure and that if I get
the beta that I may wind up with a non working system for a while if I don't
have funds to purchase the OS, or have to revert back to old OS until I can
upgrade.
How much trouble will it be to revert back when I have xp pro x64 bit
edition as my default OS right now?

Any ideas or suggestions? (Please be nice)

Memory serving me correctly, the Beta will implode out after ~360 days.

Type "winver" at a run prompt to see when your version expires.
(WindowsKey+R - "Winver"+Enter)

More information, please!
What OS now? Which RC1, 32 bit or 64 bit?
The message you received is typically seen when one attempts to upgrade a 32
bit OS with Vista 64 bit (or, vice - versa).

This link is no longer available. I already have the product key. I
downloaded 64-bit RC1 optimistically but my machine will only run 32-bit at
this time. Is there a new URL?

hello I have a product key but can't find out where to download the rc1 is it
closed or something? will I have to get the update from limewire or can I
still download it thanks

Hi,

The beta and preview programs have long-since closed. I would suggest that
you not use a copy found with any P2P software, it may contain altered code
that may not be customer friendly.

Vista released to manufacturing on Nov 8 and is already out for Microsoft
Volume License customers. As a result all the Microsoft beta and release
candidate download links are closed. Vista will go on sale to the general
public on January 30. Your product key will not work in the released copies
(build 6000) but you may still be able to buy RC1 on eBay. Your product key
would work in that.
