Yes, did the spyware and Adaware - both are coming up with suspect things and images of spiders (Adaware) - some of which I have zapped and others won't go.

If you click on "post reply" and then try to attach the jpeg to the message and we should be able to view it. You do not want bridge running on startup though, I am sure of that :)

You’re ok, It's not dodgy. It’s not a big file and won’t take long.

When you've downloaded it, open the "zipped" (compressed), hijackthis.zip folder and double-click on the file HijackThis.exe.

A window will appear with HijackThis – v1.97.7 in the title bar.

The controls are very simple and straightforward.

Now click the “scan” button in the bottom left hand corner and this will result in a long list of program locations preceded by numbers.

If you’ve got this far, click “save log” in the bottom left hand corner. The default save name is “hijackthis.log”. Save it and then either post the contents here or email the saved file to me.

When you’ve done this, I’ll give you further instructions. :)
 
Go to your start button click RUN ... type in regedit

Find this registry-key: There should be an entry with Bridge.dll in it

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Delete that entry with bridge.dll


Hopefully this will get rid of the error message when you start up.

I have at long last managed to sort this out with the help of you very kind online friends - thank you all for your patience. I was about to ask whether some kind soul would actually talk me through this 1:1 as I was getting quite mad with it! Thank you to everyone who has offered help and support. I have so much stuff loaded on this computer now, I doubt that anything will ever get through again!!
