Hey guys and girls

Please help me...I am really stuck with this, I have done the bits I said above and still it's there. I think it is something to do with adverts trying to get through (I may be compltely wrong I know!) I also heep getting high risk messages via NAV (something to do with bargain.exe) - all seems to be working well, but I'd still like to get rid of the little monkey. Please try not to be too technical, I have the job of looking aftre this PC and if I ****** it up, I am in big trouble.....

Could you try running MSCONFIG from run on the start menu, and then click starup, then can you let us know the names of the "Startup Items" that appear as ticked on that list please?

Gabriella, if you haven't already, try Spybot 1.3.

It's available Here.

I use both Spybot & AdAware and one usually catches what the other misses, they're kind of complimentary to each other.

Install the program, update, then run it. You may get lucky.

I have done the 'msconfig' thingy and there are absolutely loads of things ticked - do you want me to write them all down and send through. I can do it but it will take some time......

get to the startup thing you are talking about, hit printscreen, open paint and paste. Save as a JPEG and post here as an attachment.
 
Aaah help me, Ihave the jpeg saved no prob - how do I attach to this message. God if I do smething terrible here I am truly dead!!

I think I have found something:

Start up item: bridge
Command: rundll32.exe"c:WIN
Location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\microsoft\windows\current version

There are a couple of other strange things as well

If someone tells me how to attach the jpeg, do you think we may be able to sort?

Please keep any explanations very simple....

Hi there

I am so struggling, I have saved the jpeg, can find it, but can't get it to upload - all of a sudden this machine is going weird things and is incredibly slow and it shouldn't be.....

wouldn't it be nice if a little fairy could come round and sort this, I am in danger of losing theplot!!

You'll need a photo editing program such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro to reduce it in size.

Failing that, there may be some free software availble to do the job such as IrfanView (do a Google). 2Mb is too big to attach.

Did you actually try Spybot V1.3, as I suggested?

(my apologies if an earlier part of this thread states that you did, I haven't read the whole thing)

If not, then do so, they've just today released an update.

(mutters to self about being totally ignored.........)

I have a plan - it's late now and perhaps not the best time to be delving into this.

I think I can get the jpeg to send if I am allowed (2mb)...would that be OK Ian and can someone have a look 2morro please.

On a lighter note Big Brother is a bit full on 2nite - fighting etc.....

Hi Floppybootstomp

Yes, did the spyware and Adaware - both are coming up with suspect things and images of spiders (Adaware) - some of which I have zapped and others won't go.

To be honest, this is a bit too complex for me tonight - I will have another stab 2morro if ome kind soul helps me.....
