Music. What are you listening to right now?

Well, today I discovered the Louvin Brothers and The Black Label Society.

I was aware of the existence of both but had never heard any of their stuff.

So far enjoying both. The Louvin Brothers are odd, very odd.

Los Lobos: I wish they'd been as lively as they are in that clip when I saw them at the Glastonbury 2003 Festival cos they were distinctly dull then, I was quite disappointed. I like Los Lobos, their album 'Kiko' is a fave.

Ghost Town? Good song but every time I see/hear it now I can't help but think of Father Ted

:thumb: I really enjoyed that and all the other Ryders vids on You Tube, thanks for that Quad  Takes me back in time:)

Quad!

It is November 20th WTH

I know, I know! The FM radio station that I listen to normally here in Houston is playing nothing but Christmas songs since two days, so I thought I would be OK for me to post it too. If you want I will remove it, did not want to displease you, Sire!

Christmas is a dirty word to me up to a week before the 25th. It seems to me that most people are agnostic now a days and it an excuse for a P*** up and a blow out on food and has become a huge money making scheme for the stores and nothing to do with the real meaning of Christmas. I know, I know I am an cynical old barsteward. Bah Humbug:( I can remember as a small child my Mother grumbling about Curries having a Father Christmas in the store 2 weeks before the 25th and it was trying to make a profit out of a religious celebration and she was the parish church organist.

I sincerely apologize if I have offended you in any way. :(

Dear Quad

No you haven't offended me at all. I am sorry I flamed off, but what does offend me is the commersiliasion (I think I spelt that wrong) of what is a time for rejoicing and bringing families together whether in the Christian or Jewish communities and I believe some other religions like the Muslims also have festivals at this time of year. I love Christmas not because of the presents ( of course they are nice) but of the love both given and received, which has nothing to the expensive presents which we have been encouraged to buy by the stores to give one another. If you look around the world there is so much strife and killing of people which is aberrant to so many people and Christmas time is the time to remember friends, family, and loved ones who ether far away or have passed on from this life and gives the the hope that love, peace and reconciliation will enter the coming year. Sorry if I was out of line on the post and do not want to be a party pooper. I also apologise to any other members I have offended over my flaming and climbing out of the proverbial pram.

Don't worry Bootneck You have just said what lots of us already have said on here over the years..

I hate it too I went into a card shop for a Birthday card end of august and for 2 years running now they have taken all the birthday cards out and replaced them with Christmas cards..Flaming christmas cards for christs sakes at the end of August, a full 4 months before christmas.

I had such a massive go at the staff in there I thought they were going to call security to come and take me out of the shop, there excuse was don't have a go at us we are just the staff and we are only doing what we have been told, I said If I don't have a go at someone then it will never filter back down to the idiot who is telling you to do this..I wasn't the only one in there that was absolutely flabbergasted by what I was witnessing..
As I say they have done the same thing 2 years in a row so my first rant went largely ignored, so I went in again and had another rant at the staff over the same thing, it was 82F outside the shopping centre and they had cards with snow and cosy fireside pictures to warm your cockles on display and everyone was walking around in shorts and T-shirts, it was just absolutely ridiculous, you had to see it to believe it honestly!

Told them all I would never set foot inside that shop again, and told everyone I knew how ridiculous that shop and its staff were.

It seems they get one moneymaking fad out of the way and its in with the next one as quick as possible, Halloween is going the same way its now the 3rd biggest moneyspinner for the shops out of them all, yet 20 years ago it was nowhere on that scale, it didn't even register!

Rant over and sorry to all who didn't have ear muffs on..;)
