Music. What are you listening to right now?

Quadophile; you and the rest of the guys here have just about blown me away. Talk about flashing back, especially to the1970's. I haven't even thought about Santa Esmeralda since then. I appreciate it all very much.

Ben E King! Yes who can forget him, His version of the song Stand By Me is certainly the definitive version, however there is another great version of that song which is done beautifully and the sheer emotions of all the artists is very much evident in the way they rendered the song. It is in one word "wonderful"!

It is always a great feeling when you can transport yourself back to the old days with music being the mode of transportation. I do that with music all the time.

Here is something which I am pretty sure you will relate to

:cheers:Thank you Quad for the Stand by Me a great world wide jamming session and so well done:bow: Absolutely great:thumb:

:thumb:I have just been into the playingforchange.com (reference the "Stand By Me" song) website and the site has lifted my heart and perhaps there is love in the world after all. All we have heard in the news lately is a continual plethora of bad news in Afghanistan, Africa, Libya, unrest and rioting in the large cities in the UK it is refreshing to come across a site that is using music and musicians from all over the world getting together and producing such great music and spreading the message of love and peace. I have been quite uplifted by that. Thank you Quad for the link it has quite made my day

Quad - Stand By Me - brought a tear to this poor boy's mince pie - el fabbo :thumb:

Santana:

Off to a promising start with 1st album but it lacked something.

Abraxus; III & Caravanserai are all ingrained in my conciousness, love 'em.

Then imo nothing of note recorded until he came back with a coupla blinders Supernatural & Shaman.

Of them all 'III' is my favourite.

There have always been more good hearted people in this world it's just that the nasty ones make the most noise, cause the most ripple and by hurting make the news headlines.

Good news don't make it, somehow :(

In the meantime, this is dedicated to all those lovely UK rioters out there:

(beware, cuss-words ahoy)

Great video Quad. If I'm not mistaken I saw it a year or two (or three) ago.. You are right about the Santana video. Carlos is one of the best of the guitarists in my opinion and Abraxis is probably their best album. (Imo). And you are probably going to get tired of hearing this but I also saw them while I was living in Louisville, Kentucky; probably 1971. Thanks.

Quad, you have managed to take me down memory lane once again and guess what; while I was living in Louisville, Kentucky.........nah, just pulling your leg. This is one group that somehow I missed seeing. Thanks again.

This was a great song back in the days, the unmistakable sax solo was so much recognizable. I don't think anyone listening to music in the days on radio could have missed this one. Gerry died in January 2011 R.I.P. Mr Rafferty.

:cool:Yes Baker Street was and in my mind still is Iconic, I did not know that he had passed away, must have missed that event as we were moving house in January.

I'm a strange one I know but I never did like Baker Street or most of Gerry Rafferty's catalogue.

I did see him perform once though, I think it was 1970 at The Lyceum in London's Strand. He was one half of a folk duo named The Humblebums the other member being Billy Connolly.

Even back then Billy Connolly was taking time between songs to tell jokes and stories, on his way to becoming a comedian and I can remember Gerry Rafferty looking a mite cheesed off as they were supposed to be a music act.

No wonder they eventually went their seperate ways. They were supporting Osibisa, btw, that evening, who were very good.

Very interesting bit of information there FBS :thumb:

I like Enrique, Linkin Park, Justin Timberlake, Shaan, Mohit Chauhan and many more. These singers give awesome music tracks and I just love to listen to them.
