Hi Rob,

I checked the device manager and found; The driver tab on imaging
devices shows Kodak as the driver provider. However when I click on
the "details" the driver shows as provided by MS??????

I just remembered after I installed the Kodak software I went to MS
update site and it showed "hardware updates" for the Kodak All in One
and I installed them. I wonder if that is my problem? May be I will
uninstall the Kodak software and reinstall without the MS update for
hardware.

Thanks

Later,
Malcolm

Rob,

I tried the uninstall and reinstall the Kodak software and did NOT
install the MS hardware updates from the XP update site. Still no joy,
the scanner still fails in the same manner.

Thanks

Malcolm

Just another thought, go to 'add hardware' and force the installation
through there with the disc that came with the printer.

This is how I have to install my twain drivers for my usb scanner. I
don't think it worked trying to update the drivers through device
manager. Yes the scanner does work if you do an auto install but not the
twain driver, which I have to 'force' install.

i installed with both the CD from Kodak and over the web with Kodak
and same result. I also installed with and without updates from MS,
same result.

I never had problems with my Epson Scanner or my Canon printer. I
bought the best of breed at the time.

I am also not able to scan with my 5100. Printer just locks up and
gives an error message. All other aspects of the printer work fine so
I think it is buggy Kodak software. I have an Epson scanner connected
so I wasn't really planning on the using the 5100 for scanning anyway.
Still, I'd like the scanner to work properly and am debating whether
or not to return the printer to Best Buy for a refund.

Also, my 5100 does not go into standbye either, it just stays on all
the time. Not a major problem, but I feel like I need to turn it off
and on each time I use it and this is annoying. Does anyone's 5100
actually go into a standbye mode as the user manual states?

Thanks,
David

I would return it. Get a Canon IP4300 for $59.95 at Frys.

Mine does not go into standby either but I did not even think about it
until you mentioned it.

I want the Kodak because of their pricing on the ink. I am tired of
getting ripped off buying ink. I am not about to reload my own
cartridges to save money.

With the $250 savings you certainly can buy a lot of ink. Also there
have been no reviews on the Kodak so one does not know what the quality
and longevity of photos will be. But we do know that things do not work
properly don;t we?

Greetings Robert,

Glad to help if I can.

As far as I know the light stays on when it is in standby. I am not sure
what indication you get when its actually in standy. I will be checking and
will get back to you when I have more. The 5300 shuts off the screen.

Talk to you soon, Robert,

If you want to help then you would not commercialize this ng. You
should refer the poster to the Kodak commercial website for official
Tech Suppt.

With all the negativity on this printer, I thought I'd just add
something positive. I purchased one about a week ago, have been using
it every day and haven't had a single problem! Scans great, prints
wonderfully, works nicely with my camera... who knows, maybe I just
got lucky! lol

Hi Malcolm,

I spent an hour with the printer team and we have not been able to duplicate
or figure out the reaon you are getting this issue. We have not seen it
before.

If you like want, you can send me all the details about your system and I
will take a bit further. Also, if you want we can call you for more. Let me
know.

Talk to you soon Malcolm

Hey Yoster,

Glad to hear it, Yoster, that is what it is supposed to do :-) You can
expect more of the same....I will share your comments.

The best thing to do is to return it to the store and get a Canon. The
new IP4300 has been seen as low as $59.95 on sale with rebate. Then go
out and get an Epson scanner.

This has been a PR post by Kodak.
