I am using an ATI X1300 PRO 256MB DDR2 ram, which I believe is a lesser one
than you have and use "glass" with full transparency with no problems! I do
prefer ATI cards however. This one only has 4 pipes and costs less than $100
on NewEgg!

Seems most are cheap on the RAM. 1.5gig DDR PC3200 is minimum IMHO

My ATI X1600 thingy is dropping the second monitor.
Whether this may be a "bad one" or not remains to be seen.
The previous card an X700 did the same thing - I think I'll try Nvidia

I'm using the GeForce 6600 with only 128 MB RAM, PCI Xpress 16x) on an Athlon
64 3000+, and 1280 x 1024 works perfectly. I have 2Gigs of machine RAM.

As long as the card support the following specs:
DirectX 9 compliant with Pixel Shader 2.0 support (32 bits per mixel and
Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) support. Minimum memory 128 MBs, I have
a Geforce FX 5200 128 MB AGP and I don't even get Glass anymore.
