ps. vga in my monitor its about the size of a pocket pc screen.

Ive got a ati mobility radeon x700. On windows vista the driver wont work,
it tells me an error. I can see no aero, probably it activates itsself. my
card supports direct x 10, but there is no driver installed, so the maximum
is 700somethingx1024.
On xp it works all right. In addition i got a 16:9 screen, so the picture
bad wihtout driver.
Has anyone else got this problem? Reply!

There are many people with this error 43. Search for ATI in the subject line
and you'll see them.

Use the 'feedback button' on the Vista desktop to get the 'report the
problem' program and then send in an error report to MS.

I have an ATI 9600XT AGP 8x 256MB and I'm running Windows Vista with Aero
Glass by defalut at a resolution of 1680x1050 without any problem. So that
video card should work fine at that resolution.

My Vista machine as a 6600 and runs flawlessly on a dual monitor (1280x1024
and 1920x1080) setup.

Travis, that is what I have and it looks pretty good to me. I am running on
a celeron 3.06ghz with 2gb mem and that card and though a lot of software
doesn't seem to work yet, the screen here is fine. I have a LCD 17" MAG
monitor.

I am using an ATI AIW X800XL AGP and find it would great they make a PCI
version of this card as well and right now the prices on them in Canada if
you can order one are amazing. Reg. 449.00CND Bought for 163.00CND at Future
Shop.

I don't believe they make a PCI version of this card. They make a PCIe
version, but that's a totally different connector.

The NVidia 7600GT PCIExpress is the current price/performance leader in many
peoples minds.. About $150-$200.

Yes, I was just wondering if this card would work fine with it ATI Radeon
X1600/256MB VRAM it is the one I got in my new Imac and was just wondering
if I ordered the disc for nothing.

That should be a very good card for Aero Glass. I take it you are planning
to try Vista via BootCamp? If so have you considered installing XP SP2
first and then using the upgrade method to install Vista?

i think i not corcern myself with whats a good card for vista but more so and
whats a good mobo chipset.
from what i seeing of issues on the boards it problems with every card.
i allmost think it a mobo issue with vista and there be little surport for
older chipsets.
i think vista will require a 500 doller card 1 year from now that only be
sold when vista is ready and system that made for it then to really unlock
vista.
1024 x 738 is a pure watse on vista and wont see surport i dont think.
vista is made high grapics and will be expensive.
if your on a buget i say try xp 64 with one of the cheap intell cpu that are
here now only problem is the mobo are wicked expensive,
i seeing anything that will surport a 9 series cpu is 200 plus dollers.
cheap cpu and expensive chipsets way to go intell.
NOT!!!!!!!!!!!
vista will be expensive you can bet the os will be over 200 plus and need a
really new card that will be expensive and i not plan anything for vista now.
read the stats on vista requrements and you see direct x 10 cards will be
nasty.
i wait 2-3 years before planning for vista when there good driver surport
and prices balence off and what works is a known.
orion.

Using FX5500 259M; when VISTA first started AERO & thumbnails displayed just
fine; nice transparenct & all. Updated to actual Nvidia drivers and all went
away, still looking for a solution. Presently 1152x864, other resolutions
make no difference.

This is older computer w/new MB, 2.66G Intel & 1G RAM. VISTA on SATA 300G
HD. XP on IDE PATA drive, did this so as not to futz with XP, dual boot works
just fine. Monitor is 19" Viewsonic A90.

Since others seem to get Aero to work with a lesser card have to agree more
than just vid is at work here. Has to be something in other components that
is missing from the equations. Any suggestions to solve delima are
appreciated, since it would be noce to get Aero operational to how it
actually affects/effects performance.

Are you saying that since the in-box video driver was working fine you
decided to update from nVidia? Why?

i use a 7800 gt 256mb pci-e oc from bfg and works perfectly till 1280*1024...
reason is because me monitor can't support higher
full spec of mine

- Amd Athlon64 3500+ @2.2ghz
- 1gb of Nanya (2x512mb pc-3200 )
- msi motherboard (ms-7123) (Medion PC)
- Maxtor 120gb s-ata
- Seagate 360gb s-ata
- BFG 7800 GT OC 256mb pci-e
- Pioneer dvr-109b
- 3½ floppy disc
- 6-in-1 media card reader(built in)
- Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value using xp pro 64-bit driver

it is a good choice :) as long as it's 256mb or higher at my sight :) because
aero glass requires at least 128mb... for

You shouldn't have a problem at all. I am running Aero Glass extremely well
on a widescreen 19'' LCD at 1440 x 900 resolution with a Geforce FX 5200 PCI
(not PCI express, but the good old PCI) graphics card with 256 MB DDR video
memory. Hence, you don't need to worry at all.

but my 5200 only gets a 1.5 score :(
