I'm using Avast wth the above and have had no BSOD's in couple of months that I have been running 7 if that helps at all.

I got infrequent BSOD's with Antivir as well but I went along with the guy at the Win 7 Forum's suggestions just to cover that angle so I now have MSE installed.

But thats PCS for you Arb, Very rare is it that two PC's S/W Setups are the same. ;)

:(

I though you may have cracked it for a second...

You could use the above to run some stress tests on your hardware. This would take 7 out of the equation and help to narrow the probable list of causes.

:)

Nice one Squire :thumb:

I'll give that a go shortly.

Haven't had a BSOD for five days now but that's happened before.

However, I have a gut feeling - nothing else - that the Microsoft Xbox controller may be the culprit. I've disabled it (by renaming it's primary file '.old' and unplugged it and no BSOD since.

I will reconnect and re-enable it tomorrow and see if a BSOD happens again.

But it looks like its a system driver, installed software or similar that is causing the issues not hardware?

The Xbox controller has software, I only disconnected it as an extra precaution.

My BSOD's have thrown up lots of different messages and to be honest I have not a clue what the problem is.

I'm just hoping it's not the motherboard or graphics card slowly dying.

Ah, My post above was reply to Abrb's post, you must have posted just before me, i didn't see yours above regarding the 360 pad. :)

I still think its a dodgy system driver or maybe a bit of software causing issues, so yeah it could be that 360 pads software.

If yours the wired or wireless version? IIRC the wired version dosent need any drivers other than the ones that install when you plug it in, Did you use MS's drivers off their site?

I have been having a blue screen as well. can yall help?

Read the rest of this thread, I got some help there, it may help you.

Incidentally, all, since January I haven't experienced a BSOD on this machine.

Nope, I don't know why either

Nope, as I said, I have not a clue

It's not neccessarily cured either, it's gone a few months before without crashing.

We shall see what occurs.

Hmmm, has anything, that you can think of, changed?

Drivers or hardware maybe?

Win 7 auto-updates and video drivers are about all I can think of offhand. No hardware.

Hmm, how odd. Well its certainly not a bad thing! Long may it continue being BSoD free!. :)
