Dear British Telecom ...

I gave up with BT and now with a wireless provider who specialises with customers who have poor connectivity in rural areas more expencive but at least I get 10mpbs and not .3 as I did with BT

still screwed up, waiting for second engineer scheduled for the 18th

Make sure he gets the 'Hawk' out. Should 'see' any spikes on the line quite easily with that, your only a few hundred meters from the exchange, how hard can it be! lol

Did you hear anything on the quiet line test?

On the previous call out I have no idea what "equipment" the engineer was using, but it was very impressive ... I googled "Hawk Tester" the engineer's was a lot more sophisticated than that Hawk.

I assume he "tested" the quiet line also.

All "lines" in Southport are underground, so we shouldn't need to go pee on the Poles. :)

Last outage was 3hr 17min 44sec ago :( ... do I "play" online or continue to improve my Solitaire score

Heh 'Hawk Tester' throws up some random results....

But it was one of these... The Blue box with the LCD Screen.
http://andysworld.org.uk/tag/bt-openreach/

When i had all the issues, about his time last year, He used that and a bunch of other stuff.... This was after the other 4 engineers tried new drop wires, filters, faceplates and god knows what ever else....

So what happens then the line just drops? Does the phone still work? Is the line noisy when the BB goes down?

Is it random or at a certain time or a certain interval? Possibly REIN Noise?

Nope, his box was a sight more sophisticated than that there "cheepo" looking thing ... it showed lines & stuff and charts and made noises, had a pretty blue back-lit SVGA 9" display ... :p

stop with the questions, I have to tell "them" the same bloody thing every time ... I'm not getting a screwdriver to the main socket that the engineer replaced, I'm not replacing the filters for the 20th time that the engineer replaced, I'm not plugging the modem directly into the main socket, it's 20feet away, the computer won't reach, stupid idea!!

JUST FIX IT !!

if they don't know how to fix it, send someone who can ... I ain't jumping through any more hoops

There is only one "test" I will conduct ... will the modem pass through a brick wall undamaged. :)

Only 3 drops in connection today.

Could not "log on" this morning, had to reset router ... oh, it's new, a few weeks old, but not been replaced yet. :)

Thanks for trying to help V_R, but I'm done with the same questions every time I phone. :o

Just for V_R ... BT man came, tested everything with his exo (sic??) tester, no faults found :(

gonna buy a new PC :)

Could have sworn i posted this previously in this thread.... :/

This is my routerstats graph from last year, when i was having similar issues to you. The obvious drop in SNR (blue line) is some kind of REIN interference. It stopped of its own accord in the end, God knows what it was, could have been anything, something next door or anywhere from here to the exchange... Guess whatever it was they fixed/moved it.

This is the downside to ADSL2+, its much more susceptible to noise on the line, which is what is most likely causing your drops and why i keep asking you if the line sounds noisy. :)

Ah crap yes i forgot you got the BTHH... No i dont think it works with that....

Ok do you have a static IP per chance? Guessing not as it BT, but could try something else if you do. :)

No, no static IP

I do have the REIN program working, I think, just used "other device" and the old 192 access to modem thingie ... not sure if I'm getting it right but, I have a nice straight flat line, is it dead?

Sorry to hear of your Woes Mr Muck's

Sounds like your having a right old time of it...I do sympathise!

I think I would change my provider unless they all come through a BT line, I know how bad I had it with BT I would never go with them again.Sorry to hear your continuing woes with BT.

you know, this "problem" is still ongoing ... I have now had three (3) new modems off BT and me flat rewired

I cannot play my game after 6pm evening time, seems to be throttled tho I can't prove it, even if on one occasion a "speed" test resulted in 0.46Mbps 40ms ping when I normally get 16-17Mbps & a Latency Ping of 28ms

I am once again waiting for a call from BT this afternoon to hear the results of an engineer's test.

Time for a lift and shift by the sounds of it.

It would drive me mad ! :(
