Command failed to excecute for attachments

I am having the same problem, and it clearly is the fault of Windows Mail. I
can go to WebMail, read the emails and open attachments, but I get the
"Command failed to execute" message if I go through Windows Mail. I have had
this computer with the 64-bit Windows Vista operating system about nine
months, and installed BitDefender when it was new. I haven't had any
problems reading attachments until Microsoft installed a recent update. I
tried the fixes suggested in the email string above, and none of them worked.
Contrary to your earlier comment, this is not an isolated problem. Why
can't Microsoft get it right?

To correct go to:-
Windows Mail
Tools
Options
Security
2nd Box must be blank ( do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that
could potentially be a virus)
Apparently things get changed on updates that we don't see!
If it recurs check to see iof box has become ticked again, if not come out
of windows mail and then go in again and it should be okay.

I have Norton Antivirus and I went on the attachements to open and I found
the properties but I cannot change it like you say so.

I have never had this problem before today and have run Norton always. Why
today is there a problem?

I recently received the "command failed to execute" message when I tried to
open an attachment on an e-mail that I had previously opened w/o problems.
Why is this? And what do I do to be able to open the attmnt once again?

This is what NAV tech support told me to do:

In IE: 1) delete temporary internet files; 2) restore IE defaults.

[You may also have to close/reopen Windows Mail. The problem will recur!]

You did not include the most important part. Does that work?

You say the "problem will recur". If so then this solution is worse than the
problem it is supposed to cure.

The suggestion is not of help for WinMail.
Turning off UAC does not make a difference in my system.

It's the type of half-baked advice I would expect from the Norton techs. ;-(

I am not a techie - I do not have the AVG virus protection - please - just
tell me what to do - this is not just an inconvenience- this is interefering
with a learning disabled student's ability to interact with a team of
specialists for daily therapy - which cost over $3000 and can only be
conducted during school break - PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

For something that important, just save the attachment(s) and then open it
(them) from there. Don't demand perfection; get the job done. If you need
help, pay someone to help you. There is certainly someone near by that can
help for little or nothing. If saving the attachment does not apply to your
situation, then start a new thread describing your problem. Don't post a
message in another thread if the solution to the problem is different. If
you don't understand, then get someone that does.

As a user having the same problem, what I do is save the attachement and then
go find where I saved it and it will open without any problems.
