A Problem with MESH

Direct from one of mesh's technical support staff, the number of pc's sold has gone up nearly 700% in the last few years, but they still have the same structure for support as 8 years ago. No money has been put into customer services or support.

I also got told that mesh have a very high turnover of tech support staff as most realise soon after starting how bad the company is, this as i said all from a member of mesh's own technical support staff who came to repair my pc, they even gave me drivers & manuals for most of my hardware, something that mesh get given, but do not pass onto to the customers!!

Hi, murdoch. If what you've been told from the "horse's mouth" so to speak is true one can understand why their customer service is so poor and has such a bad reputation. I bet they've increased their sales staff in line with the growth of their business, however!!!

I wonder if the same story applies to the laptop side of their business where MESH use a company called mobile-support.net to repair (and I've been told to actually build) MESH laptops. If they have seen a similar or greater increase I wonder if their staffing has risen in line with the growth in the underlying business?

laptop or pc, both are crap from mesh

Sadly mesh's support is very poor for both pc's & laptop's.

I suggest to users to stay well clear of them, the main reason is you still have to go through mesh to get a laptop repaired the same as a pc. And mesh will do everything they can to make sure they do not have to call out their contractor.

You can contact the contractor directly, but they will not help unless you have an authorisation code from mesh!

So it is best to stay well clear of mesh computers

trading standards

I have to agree with cognito about trading standards, as i have found them completely useless.
I was told by Glasgow Trading standards that they have no enforcement powers and that their role is only concilitory.

They also told me that my understanding of my statutory rights was incorrect, and i was not entitled to the equivelant or better graphics card, i was only entitled to something "close to it" if thats not as good then so be it, and that MESH could give me a a 10 month old graphics card because i had 10 months use out of my original one. She added that there wasnt much more that could be done as the computer was now working. She said she would mention they warranty situation to MESH.

I emailed brent Trading standards months ago who told me that i had to deal with my local trading standards but that they would store my case as info only.

After meeting my solicitor he basically said that was a load of crap, and any final action would have to be taken by brent trading standards because they operate from that borough, but i know that Glasgow TS havent contacted Brent TS.

As for Davey, he a mesh "engineer" both told me that the card they gave me was better than the one i had, but a quick email to nVidia resulted in a catagorized reply of their lines of stock under which my original card was listed under "high end enthusiast" and my replacement card was listed under "mid-range".

Told the mesh engineer this and he said "oh i got confused with all the numbers, i thought it would have been better 'cause it was a higher number" i also got the speech about benchmark results.
Got another call a couple of days later asking if they could see the email, sent it to someone called fiona, who replied saying she would "endevour" to resolve the situation. Not heard anythin since. And its been over a week.

Unfortunatly it seem Trading standard cant be bothered sticking up for consumers either, rip off Britian right enough!

mesh in bed with "tame" forums

My local trading standards advised me on everything i could do & also advised me on what sort of letter to write to the muppets. The muppets engineer did pay a visit but only after a few weeks of asking. As for Davey he and the rest of his troubleshooting team seem to have a few problems when it comes to understanding part numbers & graphic card specs, but then what do you expect from a company like mesh!!

And of course there still are a few forums that mesh get good reviews on, mostly as they do not want to loose mesh revenue from advertising, these "tame" forums give the muppets freedom & if you say something against mesh your post gets chopped as they dont want to upset them (mesh). I would never buy from a pc mag recomended review as they are to biased towards portraying the muppets to be a great caring company that offers great builds.

But we the customer know otherwise.

Remember a mesh pc works for a few months not for life

PC mags

Yeah your right about the pc mags murdoch, especially after the exchanges and emails i had with the forum editor on muppets friendly forum, i'll never buy their mag agian. They are just so blatently bias and patronizing its insulting.

But it worries me that readers can be "advised" towards products and a lot of the facts are witheld from the them until its too late, and nobody seems to be able to do anything about it!

I've decided to register here. I've just finnished reading all 29 pages of this thread, and am a little worried. I ordered a MESH computer a few weeks ago, and I'm waiting on it arriving this week. I guess I should have done a bit of research before I purchased the computer, with regards to after sales support.

I didn't have much of a choice in terms of choosing a retailer. Dell make machines that you simply cannot upgrade. They have their own BIOS installed on motherboards, preventing you from doing any kind of O/C, upgrading, and the power supply that comes with the computer has customized power cables that only connect to Dell parts.

Anyway, its too late for that now. I can only hope I don't have any trouble with the system, but there are alot of good people on this board, noticeably MeshVictim, murdoch, llcoolg and COGNITO. Its' also nice to know that there is another fellow Glaswegian on the board :)

Now, if there is anything wrong with the machine I get, or a fault develops over time, and I get any type of hassle from MESH, then my scenario is different. I purchased the computer on a payment plan - Pay nothing for 9 months, then pay the full amount interest free. If I am unhappy within that time then as far as I'm concerned, the can blow me. I'll follow the right legal procedure and cancel the finance agreement at the Clydesdale bank end.

I'll keep you all posted.

Welcome to the best computer forum around Sonic !!!
It may seem strange coming from me, but I don't think you should worry at all. Even today, the chances are that you will receive a computer from Mesh that works for a reasonable length of time. The time to worry is when something goes wrong and you have to pick up the phone to ring Mesh Customer Service. Buying from Mesh is a bit like playing Russian Roulette, that may seem a dramatic analogy, but as any Mesh Victim will tell you, dealing with Mesh Customer Service is even worse than getting a bullet in the head

because the nightmare just goes on and on

Remember you have your rights under The Distance Selling Regulations, and I believe you can reject goods bought by mail order for any reason up to seven working days after receipt of them. However, you will have to pay for their return, typically £30-£50 for a computer.
Also as you say, you purchased it on a payment plan.
On this forum now, we are also blessed with a legal expert,

nottsfedup and although I am sure he is a very busy man, he may be able to keep us all correct as to the details of the Law. So if you do have trouble with Mesh, do post again here :)
Don't worry ....... Just stay cool  keep your fingers crossed and pray !!!

Together we can make a difference !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

mesh service is poor

Sonic, you may get a mesh pc that works if your lucky & i hope you do:D
If you don't then post back here for more help, sadly mesh seem not to care once they have you money. We will have to wait to see what happens, good luck:thumb:
Something you should do when you get your pc is to backup the drivers, normally found at C: Drivers

Hi there sonic, nice to have you on board.:thumb:

I agree with the other guys, if your mesh is good out the box then you should be ok for sometime. My mesh was fine for 9-10 months (i know this isnt a great deal of time) but my friend has had his for over a year with no problems at all.

One of my other mates bought a cube247 system, they seem to use better components and appear to know what theyre talking about. He did have a hard drive fault on delivery and they didnt supply windows, but being a bit of a 'tard he didnt notice that. Anyway he sent it back and they fixed it no probs, and they even left a copy of windows on it for his dumbass!

I also seen them on the "mesh friendly" forum defending themselves from some guy who was accusing them of muppet like tactics. The way they handled that impressed me, because they shut the guy right up and nipped the whole thing in the bud - without forum editor support, something Davey W could only dream of!

Hope all goes well with your mesh mate, although i hope you didnt take out an extended warranty or onsite cover bcoz they will never get you an engineer up here in Glasgow, and they will have your PC for an age if you have to send it back for anything. GOOD LUCK!

I appreciate this is somewhat off-topic - but I can concur what you say about cube247, I bought a base unit from them a few years ago when they were called Computer Electronics and its been faultless, they only use quality branded components and give good advice via a phone line they answer very quickly :thumb:

It is not as "off topic" as Welsh Girls and Santa Claus :D

MeshVictim.

P.S. This is the first post I have made on this excellent and extremely accommodating forum which has not alluded to a most disreputable computer retailer based in the Oxgate Centre, Brent, London.

Good to hear MeshVictim that you have posted something else not concerning those bar-stewards based in Brent who make exceedingly bad pc's ;)
