excellent SPAM-catching ability. I've not been disappointed.
I don't bother with SPAM catching more than what my ISP provides, and even
then I just have it marked so it goes to MY trash where I quickly scan for
non-SPAM before emptying the folder. I have a hard time believing that any
number of third-party SPAM filters for OE or WM are any worse at it than OL,
but I'm certain OL is probably the most expensive such solution.
Nope. Third-party programs are required.
OK, I mispoke. Outlook never had a newsreader. But, (correcting my apparent
mistake in re v 2003) In OL 2002 and earlier, you could launch OE's
newsreader via an Outlook menu.item (which launched msimn /newsonly.) And in
all versions of Windows from 98 through XP (I don't think it was built into
Win95) have OE for a newsreader. And now Windows Mail has the same
functions. I don't consider those "third-party" apps. Don't know why they
bothered to cut the cord for OL 2003 and 2007. Plenty of people seemed to
consider it a decent solution. Probably more anti-trust stuff.
