I originally bought it because pre-release reviews spoke of its
excellent SPAM-catching ability. I've not been disappointed.

I don't bother with SPAM catching more than what my ISP provides, and even
then I just have it marked so it goes to MY trash where I quickly scan for
non-SPAM before emptying the folder. I have a hard time believing that any
number of third-party SPAM filters for OE or WM are any worse at it than OL,
but I'm certain OL is probably the most expensive such solution.
Nope. Third-party programs are required.

OK, I mispoke. Outlook never had a newsreader. But, (correcting my apparent
mistake in re v 2003) In OL 2002 and earlier, you could launch OE's
newsreader via an Outlook menu.item (which launched msimn /newsonly.) And in
all versions of Windows from 98 through XP (I don't think it was built into
Win95) have OE for a newsreader. And now Windows Mail has the same
functions. I don't consider those "third-party" apps. Don't know why they
bothered to cut the cord for OL 2003 and 2007. Plenty of people seemed to
consider it a decent solution. Probably more anti-trust stuff.

FYI, under Windows XP, OL 2003 and 2007 can launch the OE newsreader
also, but the option isn't in the menu by default. You have to add it
manually.

Read below and weep, clown!
And learn how to USE your newsreader!!

As per advice ALREADY given to you; read the above link about, what I
consider, a better PE version.

I have an IT business. Outlook suits it, as I use the Office Pro Suite.
And I prefer Excel to MYOB and/or Quickbooks.

That's good to know. I'll probably forget before I ever need the info again,
but it's still good to know, <s>.

Thanks! Do you happen to know, offhand, if WM in Vista has a /newsonly
switch or similar? I have clients who only use OE for news reading (and
online or third-party email). When they migrate to Vista I'm wondering what
kind of solutions are available.

Makes sense. Before my own nascent IT business had to be put aside, I was
looking at a very similar setup.

I should add that my wife's publishing business, which consists of purely
advertising supported, localized Guides to Services & Attractions, with
detailed and ground-proofed maps, manages to survive on OE. I shudder
sometimes, but can't talk her into something more appropriate. For contact
management, she uses Goldmine, and QB for bookkeeping. (Well, actually,
she's never gotten around to building the GM database and does 99% of her
business on OE.)

I am one of these strange people that likes Office to use in business!

Access is a good Data Base. And I use Publisher for a lot of things(flyers,
business cards, etc).

Excel is also good, if people want to take the time to learn it!
I've used QB/MYOB in other business partnerships, but under protest!
In my own business, Excel.

Kewl! (Or does that date me too much? I learned it from my kids.)

Again, my grateful thanks.

Don't you believe anything Paul Montgomery a sissy and a sack of crap
has to say.

I do! Once again, it is study to use it properly.
I think we have bashed this subject to death.

We were talking about the web interface!
I don't tick to get reminder emails from MS for replies here.
I manually check the thread.
But, I won't be back to this one, as it is now in the 3rd page back.

Cheers.

LOL! OK, but you should know that in my OE, I see this entire thread's
headers all at once. If it sextupled in size, all I'd have to do is scroll
just a little, though I usually traverse from one message to the next using
Ctrl-U
