PLEASE explain how you got this to work, this is what I WANT to happen, but
it just doesn't, and I believe I have a pretty standard install!

Please help!

Yes. AFAIK they removed the functionality. I don't know if it was on
purpose, by mistake, or could be corrected with an update... other posts in
this thread notwithstanding. We went through all this when Vista and Winmail
was first released. If you search google you'll find earlier posts on this
subject. I have tried too. I didn't just blatantly believe other posters.
Unsuccessful.

Thanks for the reply Frank, I guess I'll be ditching windows mail then :-(

too bad....cheers!

Hey Jeff! Thanks for this tip!!!! As simple as it is, I'd not thought of
it. You're a regular wizard, my friend! Anyway, really, thanks!

As for the NooB... even if "Reply" did work, it can only send mail to the
same email address included in the post. So... there is really no
difference.

Isn't that strange?

Not really too strange. It is fairly well known that the "mailto" stuff
works as advertised. When you click on the email in the message it uses the
"mailto" procedure. When you click on "Reply", it doesn't.

-Frank

Really, there is no need to ditch it. Clicking on the email within the
message is exactly the same address you would have gotten even if "Reply"
worked.

Frank,

NP
glad to help

There is no bug.

I think others previously reported this, and I believe there is no
resolution and that it is a bug, but you can search the other messages in
this newsgroup to confirm that.

The saving grace is that one should almost never click Reply to
a newsgroup post, only Reply Group.

Gary VanderMolen

No real saving grace there. The Reply button still brings up email, no
matter what program it is. It would just be nice if it brought up the one
you configured for (or thought you did).
