If your still running the Beta version of Windows Defender, it's guaranteed
to be non-functional, as it expired the last day of the year 2006. So
basically you have nothing to loose by going to WD Version 1.1.1593.0 ,
although activating it again along with NIS could create conflicts that
have been reported in these newsgroups in the past...
In that event your option may be just to remove Defender. Assuming you
have Norton's version of their Anti-Spyware product you won't be left
unprotected if it comes to that, but I manage to use Defender with NAV2005
with a minimal number of problems by disabling the "protect my product"
option within NIS.
Migrating from Beta to the current version was not meant to require an
un-install first, but since your getting that message you may have to run
the Windows Installation Cleanup utility as mentioned in this thread before
you'll be able to load it.
