I turned off what I didn't need without getting religious about
it (e.g. messaging, voice input). What "eye candy" is there?

hmmm where is that Barry Manilows greatest hits......I have an 8 track but then what would that have to do with my comment to Shep
in regards to his opinion that 98 is faster than xp?...
 
My XP system boots in 34 seconds.

From cold boot including boot order scan order floppy/Cdrom/IDE zero
and manual choice of O/S on dual boot to desktop and no hard drive
activity
30 seconds.
Keyboard combo power-off shutdown.
6 seconds :D

Try it on a win98 system (using a 2Ghz+ system) with USB disabled. It will
boot so fast it's =scary=! Also shuts down so fast it needs a patch so it
doesn't shut down before the cache on the HD can be written to disk.
