That's weird. You know someone who uses Windows? Why haven't you
forced your friend to use that wonderful Ubuntu?

He does use Ubuntu and a lot more than Windows *anything*.

Got any more fantasies you'd care to share?

Microsoft is migrating from conventional newsgroups to forums for better
support. See: Windows 7 - The Next Generation of Customer Support:

They are working on an "NNTP Bridge" which would allow you to use your
newsreader to read from and write to their web forums. It's in beta,
and I haven't used it so I can't offer any opinion. Here's where it
is:

Oh I forgot. Everyone you know uses Ubuntu. The banker, the baker, the
policeman. Everyone in your town has or wants Ubuntu. I almost forgot.

Considering I've never stated that, you're the liar. I know a lot of
people who don't use Ubuntu and don't want to use anything but Windows.
I also know people who swear by their Apple computer and won't use
anything else. Unlike YOU, it doesn't bother me what OS another person
is using.

Next fantasy you'd care to share?

Well, so much for MS Usenet newsgroups. I bet that the bridge will cause
problems with Windows Fail and a new web site to address those problems
will be born.

I am using it. A few quirks here and there and slow connection at times.
Drops groups now and then necessitating a reset but all and all I still
prefer it over web bases interface.
It's still in beta so hopefully those probs will be worked out.

Are you able to post replies? I can view all the threads but if I try to
reply it just sits in the Outbox trying to send forever :-(

Hi Leroy:

I had just found the forum that you sent, but it appears there is no
comparison with it and the Newsgroups which I think is much better. I had
no
other choice than to register etc.

My guess is that this is because of all the cretins posting absolute rubbish
in this group....on BOTH sides.....

One huge problem with it - many "posters" in the web forums are writing
whole paragraphs in the field which in a newsgroup would be the subject
line... ;-)

Err - Maybe they are reading YOUR posts and decided that YOU the NET COP
shouldn't be allowed there. Just FYI.
Err. <sigh> Umm.

It will be hard since Deja News was "swallowed" up by Google after the
purchase.

Actually, if Google pulled the plug on Google Groups, the Eternal
September might be close to ending.

Yes, I am able to reply.
Are you starting the service first by logging in from the Microsoft
Community Tools in All Programs and then using your login info?

I was having a problem sending in HTML and my posts would just sit there in
the outbox until I changed them to plain text.
Now they go out fine.
What format are you trying to send your posts/replies in?
However, I have previously sent out posts in HTML and they went out fine so
I'm not sure if it's a format issue or just a fluke server issue.
In any event, try changing from whatever format you have and see if that
works.
good luck!

I can't get them to post in either format and have submitted the issue for
review. Not a big deal as it is still just a beta program :-)
