Windows 7 News Groups

AFAICT, Microsoft is waiting until GA (General Availability) before
initiating newsgroups on msnews.microsoft.com servers. In the meantime,
there are a number of online forums - including a forum hosted by
Microsoft's TechNet - that enable people to communicate about just Windows
7.

Just put the term "Windows 7 Forums" in a search engine such as Bing.

Of course, another possibility is that MS has no plans at all to
introduce newsgroups for Windows 7, because of the constant trolling
that goes on in these groups (and the misguided dolts that continue to
respond to the trolls). The forum approach allows MS more control,
which they of course like. Unfortunately, many helpful folks will not
make the transition because they don't like the format and/or medium
as much as they like the newsgroups.

I asked that question in the TechNet forum and got the answer that Microsoft
ARE planning NNTP Windows 7 newsgroups...

Just kill file:

and

and 80% of the trolling is gone.

You're confused. 100% of the trolling is done by Frank and the
Nymshifter. They haven't been around for awhile and note how quiet this
group is.

From whom did you get that answer?

As far as I know, that's not correct, but I hope you're right and I'm
wrong.

It came from Robinson Zhang - MSFT, Moderator, and he said:
"Based on my know. these services will be available in future."

My killfile is considerably longer than that, but yes, I agree, it can
be managed. I do wish that fewer people responded to the trolls
though - some of them make positive contributions to the group so I am
loath to killfile them...

Even with the headache of handling those sorts of problems, I prefer
the newsgroup format to the forums.

"Based on my know"? That doesn't sound at all like he knows. But once
again, I hope you're right.

Good to see Bedpan815 is banned from the Win7 forum. Hope the same
happens to Ali ass.

Can't wait for October 22 for the best OS ever!

By then there should be another dozen or so linux distros. Maybe one
day they'll get it right.

I have been on the Win7 web forum since the get go, with a different
*alias*. I know the difference between Usenet and a moderated forum,
believe it or not.

"Best" is a subjective opinion.

Ubuntu, Mint, PCLinuxOS and others have had it right for years. Karmic
Koala will kick Win7's ass out the proverbial *window*.

Funny how certain people can't accept that there are sizable numbers of
people in this world who don't WANT to use Windows, or who find that a
non-Windows computer is perfectly adequate for their purposes.
Funny also how most of the world's servers and super computers also run
Linux.....

Maybe I should be banned from the Windows 7 Forums as I use both Windows and
Linux and make no secret of it...
