Ron,

Just came across this article today that you might find interesting. I'll
quote the relevant part:

"The potential disruption of service and risk posed by compromised, zombie
PCs spewing spam is putting fear in UK ISPs, according to a survey
conducted by security firm StreamShield Networks.

A massive 96 per cent of 50 ISP respondents cited the proliferation of
botnets - networks of virus-infected PCs under the control of hackers - as
a key business issue.

According to industry analyst firm Gartner, seven in 10 items of spam
originate from infected PCs."

BTW, those infected boxes are Windoze boxes, just as I've said.

1. Those hackers that are controlling things, they are not people?

2. A Linux box or a Mac can also be infected and turned into a bot.
The only repeat only reason for not doing so is that there are not
enough of them in existence to be worth bothering with, from the
hacker's perspective.

I am also wondering too if WGA will force WGA updates or shut down XP cause
WPA freezes Windows XP if you don't activate in 30 days. So if WPA is forcing
activation something tells me WGA will do the same.
