Why won't XP allow me to rename/delete files?

You are probably getting an Access Denied message? Right? Take
ownership of the files and you will be able to do as you please with the
files and folders:

I'll check again - pretty sure I've tried take ownership several times

Do you have an icon ANYWHERE that is assoc withthe prog ?

The program I'm using to delete the files is explorer. Other than that I
don't know what you are refering to.
