I'll finish this off by showing some pics of the train we were on. Utter luxury (decadence) with 1920s and 30s style carriages, observation cars ( all originals that have been refurbished) and even a 1930s steam engine which, sadly, due to Elf 'n 'Safety, can only be used in Rovos Rail's own grounds in Pretoria. All meals and drinks included !!!
The rear observation car.
The rear observation platform - the place to view the wildlife as the train trundles along.
The other end of the rear observation car with the bar in the corner.
One of the dining cars.
The other, more sumptuous, dining car.
The mid-train observation car.
The steam engine that brought the journey to its end.
The steam engine in Rovos Rail's own private station.
Another steam engine in the station.
Every time we left the train for a tour we got this send off. And they were there when we got back with a glass of Champers for everyone. Absolute heaven for a rail enthusiast.
Yes, I know, we were truly spoilt but for a special occasion it was well worth it.
