Who is still getting pop-unders with Firefox?

Alex

I am still getting pop-under residue while using Firefox.
I close the browser ... and there is it; a $^&#^%
advertisement from www.tickle.com or www.view.adtmt.com,
or some other similar. There doesn't seem to be a way
to definitely stop pop-unders, even with Firefox.

Any suggestions?

Is Firefox set as the default browser? If not, then web page's code is
loading IE windows in the background...

I went to those sites with Firefox 1.0PR and I got only the security message
"Firefox prevented this site from opening a popup window" :)
Which Fx version are you using?

WebWasher stops ALL popups and popunders when I use Mozilla. Should do
the same for Firefox:

When John Corliss reported a similar problem, I asked the question:
What page are you on when you get the pop-ups/pop-unders? You gave the
URLs for the pop-under ads, but not the page that spawned them. Can you
provide the URL for the page that spawned them? This makes narrowing
down the 'hows and whys' a lot easier. Many of us run firefox, mozilla,
ie, proxomitron, etc (the programs recommended in this thread by others)
so it would be trivial for one of us to load the offending page up and
gawk at the html to see whats going on.

I have no problem either with Firefox/0.10.1

Have you been to 'Oprtions', 'Web Features', and is the pop-up blocker
ON???

Manuel

I use Proxomitron w/ the last three versions of FF and have no popups of
any kind.

I've NEVER had ANY unwanted popups with Firefox, with ANY
version of it. Please point to a site that has popunders
with Firefox, so I can test for myself... because quite
frankly, I think something else is causing them (not FF).

Don't worry it's coming.

First, I run Firefox on Slackware. AND I'M GETTING POP-UPS. I also get
the pop-ups under XP as well.

Second, The sites mentioned are just a few that have "wised up" to the
trick...the number of sites will start to exponentially expand I'm
sure.

Third, Just going to the front page of the websites listed IS NOT
ENOUGH. The pop-ups/unders often occur when you are actively combing
through the site.

Lastly, It doesn't happen all the time.

Yet you never mentioned any URL to prove it... please do so.

I'm seeing this too. (16OCT04, 9:25PM chicago time)

Start here: http://drudgereport.com/

Then hit the link "Many detainees at Guantanamo Bay were regularly
subjected to harsh and coercive treatment...".

You might clear cookies and such before this. It's intermittent but
certainly results in the "Tickle pop under". ****ers.

WinXP, FF 1.0, Block POPUP box checked.

It a Macromedia Flash. RMB|setting results in a Flash dialog box asking
if I should let tribalfusion.com to access my camera and microphone!

Looks like I found another crapsite to add to Kerio.

Hmm, hasn't done it for me, and I've been trying for an hour. I'd say
your Firefox install is probably stuffed somehow. All I get from FF is
a yellow message saying that FF has blocked a popup window from opening.
And if I turn AdBlock on I don't even get that -- so the popup doesn't
even come into the equation at all.

Well this is strange.

I can repeat it ad-nauseum. Maybe it's extension related. Oh well, I see
there are a couple threads in Mozilla support forums regarding this issue.
Perhaps someone will get to the bottom of this. I'll try a clean install
sometime. Ya never know. Thanks.

Homer

Brand new fresh install of Windows XP, brand new fresh install of
Firefox, very first visit to Drudgereport.com and instant tickle
pop-under ad :-(

Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but even as good as Firefox is at
resisting pop-ups and pop-unders... it *still* is vulnerable to them
:-/
