which refill ink for canon CLI-8?

Talal Itani,

Although I don't like Frank, Dave, or Hobbicolor, I do admit that they
might sell some good stuff for Canon. The logic is if you look at
their website on Ebay, they only sale stuff for Canon. It makes me
feel that possibly (theory) that they did some research on this
product.
There is an advoate of that company who posts in this ng but he buys his
black ink from somewhere else for his Canon. Now you need to look at
the specific ink specifications on their website. And last I heard you
must deal with EBay. And I am sure that nobody will claim they have
circumvented Canons patent on their new CLI8 more fade resistent ink.

Talal Itani,

Here's a cut and paste from a old post, I think the guys is
unbiased.....

By the way, you asked about
refill inks that work well with Canon printers. The inks that have
been
recommended by people on this site that I trust are Formulabs from
Alotofthings, Hobbicolors, available from their store on ebay, and MIS
inks,
which are reputed to be Imaging Specialist inks.

I will not do business with a;odotings. Somewhre ohn der site they had
some small printg that they use Sensinet inks but a while ago they did
not disclose that. They will not disclose anything on the phone as I
called them. Then I heard that if you order prefilled carts you do not
know what is in them and they will not tell you.

Now Sensinent sells only in gallons and drums. I do know they had
trouble with their magenta a while ago. Trouble with one color means
ruined prints. In Seninent's favor they are a formulator and their
reputation is not bad. I do not know about how much lower their quality
is over OEM or what the exact differences are nor do I know about
fadability.

I do know that none of the professional reviews in the magazines have
recommended their ink. I do not know why.

Talal Itani,

Some guy recommended 3 companies in the past to me. I will give you
the name of 2 of them.

"refill inks that work well with Canon printers. I trust are
Formulabs from
Alotofthings, and MIS inks, which are reputed to be Imaging
Specialist inks."

I personally found alododings not to my liking. I called MIS and they
refused to tell me what they are selling. I think they are afraid I
will buy 5 drums of ink from their source. As of Hobecolours I do not
want to expose my credit to Pay Pal and Ebay due to the security
problems I read about in that regard.

Now I do wish that a reputable ink formulator would sell prefilled carts
under their own branded name that were sold in all of the venues and
were up to the same quality as the OEMs and would not ruin the printhead
or clog it and would have similar fade characteristics. And the price
would be under $5.00 for a same size cart. It would also be nice if
they could legally reverse engineer the chip to you would get the same
information to the driver.

Please...you've stated many, many times in the past, that you have
NEVER...that's NEVER, EVER used anything but oem ink...period!

So whatever you say or post or fantasize about has no connection at all
to a users experience with after market ink.
You have no experience...none!
You're a fool.
We all know it.
Get lost!

Measekite,

I'm still new on this subject, but to what I understand the best ink
you can buy in bottles (gallons) is only Formulabs. Therefore, I
suspect hobbicolors and MIS is just relabeling the bottles. I tried
to call Formulabs and they will not disclose their customers so I
couldn't verify if hobbicolors and MIS are resellers.

I spoke to both companies and neither would verify that this is
correct. Also I called Formulabs and ask them to recommend where I
could get their ink in small qualtities or in prefilled carts and they
would not tell me.

Youa re following in my footsteps. Pretty soon the morons will hate you
as much as me. They are S C A R E D of full disclosure. Now Why Do
you think that i$?.

Measekite,
Here's a scary thought. Imagine if Frank is a prophet..... and Me and
You are really the same person....just that we didn't know. We do
think a like. However, your grammar is better.....but my detective
skills in busting Frank is superior to yours. (Also, I'm still to
cheap to buy OEM ink, so I'm not going to recommend it yet.)

Let me ask you this..according ot your post it sounds like......if
somebody would mail you a free bottle of Formulabs ink, you would
actually try it on your Canon printer?

Stan
ps. Frank, can you please mail measekite a free bottle of Formulabs
ink that you labeled under the hobbicolors brand.

I concede.  You are doing a good job.

Thats OK, You know what the risks are.  At least you did not call me a name when I gave you my opinion.

Not really.  But I plan on getting a wide format printer and then I may use this to send out proofs that I really am not as concerned about.  In that case I might.  It all depends on print volume.  Like I said before, if your print volume is light or somewhat below normal it is not worth the risk.  The savings will not be there.  Right now I cut 2x3 blanks and do proofs and get the color right and then I do an 8.5x11.  For the good stuff I then cut a double matte and may frame some or hang them without a frame.

Stan ps. Frank, can you please mail measekite a free bottle of Formulabs ink that you labeled under the hobbicolors brand.

I could not get them to admit they used Sensinent ink.  How did you find that out?  Did the owner tell you?   8-)

Measekite,

Are you crazy, of coarse I didn't call hobbicolors. I'm afraid Frank
will cuss me out if he answers the phone. Why don't you call him? I
also, don't want him to figure out where I live. I actually don't
live to far from San Jose. I'm sure Frank passes by my house all the
time. However, I'm not going waste me gas driving there just to
verify if the business is a home-based business. The next time I go
to San Jose, I might stop by. I might even leave a note on his door,
